I would suggest that you don't need any tech to beat AMU. As long as your deck can out run AMU you've already won the game. AMU while fast is not super speedy. Any reasonably well built deck will beat AMU. There biggest problem is that they can't deal with consistent knock outs (meaning one kill every turn) because they need there pokemon more so than other decks. While other decks could stall for a couple turns by letting their opponent do some damage or knock out there pokemon, because of the lack of hit points AMU is very susceptible to attacks from speedy decks that deal damage hard and fast.
However, If your looking for the purely just a counter to the deck I would Run Mewtwo Lv. X. Mewtwo Lv. X deals not only with AMU but also Groudonk, Deoxsys, and eventually Regigigas, not to mention any thing else that might be out there like the occasional skittles whose primary attacker is Ho-oh and eventually Moltres who I have heard from reliable players may be played. |

Well said. Just get up and start hitting. That's how I lose to others decks.

Mewtwo Lv.X, to make this not a spam or poll....I must post reason....
Because it's Poke-Body prevents all stuff done to it by Lv.X's, there. Problem Solved.

lol Flygon999, wait - why use Mewtwo lv X again? I don't get it! nice trick lol
Seriously though, you don't really need a specific tech. Personally I don't think AMU is very good, every build I've seen in every tournament I've been in thusfar just fails all over itself after not too long. If you are having a lot of trouble against it, you could try a number of things: 1) Mr Mime, though I know you said besides this 2) Kingdra + pluspower/buck's 3) 1-1-1 Kabutops for trainer lock (no switch/warp point/premier ball suckers, lol) - GREAT tech for Gliscor 4) Rhyperior 5) Mesprit LA hurts their LA powers pretty nicely. I'll think of more later, but in my opinion AMU is a bubble deck - it is arguably good now and will just vanish when better things get released in SF & Galactic's - Xaej

AMU's biggest weakness is when you can KO 2 pokemon in short succession (like, within a turn of each other or so), 'cause then it won't be able to keep all of those LV.X pokemon in play. Metagross helps a lot when doing this (pick off the pixie that doesn't have a clone on the bench to make them rather frustrated), as does basically anything that can do 90 damage (or even 80 damage + Pluspower). ...Seriously.
...Kinda funny that nowadays, the way to counter a deck is its strategic weaknesses, not its printed weaknesses. Go figure. |

WRONG It prevents all effects of attacks, including damage done by your opponent's Basic Pokemon. But, if you want something that is purely for countering AMU, I believe Milotic would be more effective. That is the one that prevents all effects of attacks, including damage, done by your opponent's Pokemon Lv.X. It is easier to put into play than Mewtwo due to you being allowed to evolve it while it is on the bench. That is all.

The easyist way to beat amu is to try to get a lone mewtwo out. No bench because they will just warp you out again. If they do play a tech evolution then just use the lv.x. If you are in a mirror VS. another mewtwo just warp and get an easy prize. They can't hurt you if they have mightyena then you just play down an uxie or soemthing and play switch and attach retreat and kill the mighyena. Your invincible practically.

Mewtwo lv. X
Psybarrier Prevent all effects of attacks, including damage done to Mewtwo by your opponents' Pokemon that are not an Evolved Pokemon. That pretty much shuts down AMU completely. |

This entire thread makes me want to lol.
Seriously, read over it and every said something different. Sad part about that is only a few of them are right. Dusknoir is the n1. AMU killer (well... dusknoir makes any deck sad) , and really, anything else isn't that great.

Luxray IMO is a great counter to AMU. For 2 colorless energy it can OHKO all the Lv.X pixies (assuming they don't have Snowpoint Temple in play)
Mewtwo Lv. X is good. Dusknoir is da bomb against it. AMU has sooo many weaknesses, I dont get why people haven't prepared for it more for BR's.

Play Team Galactic's Wager against it. There is one Pixie that can do 70 damage for 2 Psychic
energy constantly if they can copy your hand size. Team Galactic's Wager stops that for at least 1 turn. Dusknoir is also pretty good. It can make the difference of drawing 1 prize or 5 prizes.

Back on topic, palkia is another card that can be used to answer amu, though its hard to work with.
