hold down the ctrl key when clicking "text view" it will force the browser to allow the pop up.

Currenlty, I only allow 30 lines per section on the card entry screen (30 poke lines, 30 trainer lines, and 30 energy lines). Can anyone think of a tournament-worthy deck that might exceed that 30-line limit?

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

I've just downloaded Apple Safari for Windows and find it has some interesting issues with my program. I'll work on it over the next few days to get it working on safari.

Same goes for Opera. I'll see what I can do to fix that.

Next up -Netscape Nav.... Naw, Netscape is no longer being supported.

So, MS IE and Mozilla Firefox are good to go. How many out there are using Safari or Opera? I suppose Safari is a must for Mac users.

BTW, there's a Mac-built version of Firefox :)

ugh. i just used this program, and it is stupid-easy to use (this is a good thing). not only can i print out a decklist for my deck in about two minutes time, but it makes experimenting with deckbuilding easy and rewarding (the images help so much).

thanks.

Totally agree with this. Makes it super easy to create and play test a deck out. Then you can use the photo list to know just what you need.

The answer to this: Kids with decks that have a bunch of singles. Lol

When you start typing in a Card (into the list) , a scroll down menu of IMAGES of possible cards automatically pops up!!

Ex. You type "Gl" and you get a scroll down menu of Glaceon, Glaceon X, Gloom, etc...

That's just HOTTNESS!

Try the sample theme decks (see link below), then click on VIEW CARDS. All the cards in the deck are laid out for you to see (thumbnail-sized).

WHAT A RESOURCE it'd be if you had ALL of the DP-on Theme Decks listed like that. So, people would know what they could go get for those quick-fix swap out cards that are in the decks (i.e. Roseanne's? Darkrai?)

Yup, I agree. I'll let someone out there do that for me using my program, then save the decks and email them to me. I'll think of something special to give to them.

I'm really close to getting my program to work flawlessly with Safari and Opera. I'm guessing that about 10% of users out there don't use IE or FF, so I don't want to leave them out. Probably by tonight sometime on my wife's website, I'll have that fix loaded.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

It seems that the card suggestion doesn't scroll correctly in Safari and Opera. For now, if you use either of these browsers, when the card suggestion pops up, you'll need to use your up/down arrows to scroll instead of using the mouse to click on the suggestion box's scroll bar. I'm working with the Russian developer to patch that (after I tried to rack my own brain for a few hours tonight).

Anyway, v.1.4.1 is up at my wife's website with the first safari/opera patches. more to come, but at least this version works well on the keyboard for those two browsers.

Like GH-Bush said (acted by Dana Carvey):
"Not gonna do it."

The engine to my program will take anything you provide, though I'm sure if you loaded it down with "pack-rat" junk, the clutter would be quite annoying.

Here's what I can do. If someone else out there wants to build the card data and provide the card pics, I'd be more than happy to plug it in and see what happens. With 50+ Pikachus to scroll through and choose from, I'm guessing it wouldn't be worth it in the context of building a decklist. But hey, if you can tell me another way it would be nice to see the unlimited cards in this context, I'd be happy to listen.

PokeBeach, PokeGym, and others have a decent collection of old card images to research. Those should suffice for looking back at the older cards that never get played anymore in premier events that require decklists.

HEY STEVE ...

Is there a COPY feature so I can copy over a list as VERSION 1 ... and then make a couple of changes and save as VERSION 2 ...

Sometimes, I make changes to a deck and screw everything up. It'd be nice to have a quick copy list function so I could revert my deck to a previous build and try again...

That's an interesting feature. In addition to "add" and "delete", have a "copy" feature that adds a new deck to the end that's identical to the current deck, then switch to it. I'd let you control the version by putting VERSION 1/2/3/... in the deck name.

I'm actually trying to make a more robust decklist management by letting you sort and rearrange your list of decks. For now though, I'll make the "copy" feature and put it up at my wife's website. It should be there within the hour, unless something comes up.

******** update ************
It's not working and I need to go out for a while. Maybe tomorrow on the "copy" feature. Sorry.

If you're cutting and pasting it into MS Word or something, the backgrounds sometimes shows up as black. The image was copies off the PUI site. When rendering on a webpage, the background is supposed to be transparent.

Sure, you can PM me with the code/data.

OK, version 1.4.2 is up at my wife's website. It allows you to copy decklists and move them up/down amongst all the deck lists. Check it out at www.nancyweb.com/pokemon-decklist/samples.html

Nope, printing it straight off the print preview window.

Will do.

Final opinions:

As a judge: These are really easy to check, but I'm worried it'll lead to sloppy deckchecks. Card count is good, but other reminders aren't really much use.

As a player: I still want a way to print a blank one. For whatever reason, I memorize techs/energy count/etc. by writing decklists by hand. I want to use these decklists to promote PokeGym, but I lose horribly if I do.

Overall: I think there are a few too many reminders, any judge or competitive player should know whether a card is legal.

BTW, Fossil Excavator MD is spelled Fossil Escavator. MT one is okay though. Might wanna fix that.

Hey Lucario EX ... here's a link to an official BLANK list...
http://www.go-pokemon.com/op/tournam...P_Decklist.pdf

Also, he ONLY has legal cards in the program, so if it's listed... it's tournament legal.
I'm not a judge, so I don't know what you mean by a lack of reminders.

I know where the official decklists are, Rogue.

If it is listed, yes. Try typing in an older card that is no longer modified legal. A notice shows up on the deckcheck section pointing it out. Judges should know which cards are legal anyway, so I find the notice annoying.

Thanks for finding the mispelling on excavator.

Actually, you CAN print a blank version without all the warnings on the next version to be released (currently only available at my wife's website). I'm working with PokeGym and PokeBeach to make sure they have the latest versions, though it's obviously never going to be as quick as my wife's website.

Regarding the warning on the decklist requiring outside references for older cards, that's something that has to be there. The intent of the program is to help point things out to deck checkers who might not know or might not notice at first glance. You DO have the option (in the next release) to turn off the deck list checking entirely, but that's about the best I can do. I don't want users to have the ability hide only certain warning, but display others. Not a good thing to allow.

Finally, I want to publically thank Lucario EX who has created and sent me the files for some theme decks.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

*** update

Version 1.4 is up and running at PokeGym. It allows you to turn off deck list error checking, though you will get a warning if there are errors when you go to print preview.

Version 1.5 is coming and will have full Safari/Opera support. The current beta version at my wife's website (v.1.4.2) still has a couple issues with those two browsers.

I'm finding that PDF might not be an option for me anymore because the free downloadable standard version of acrobat doesn't allow XML imports. Plus, I'm hearing more and more from some PTOs that don't want to allow players the ability to manipulate the printed output from my program. I'll continue to provide the XML data and XML schema (in v.1.5) so that anyone out there who wants to can develop their own programs to read the data as needed.

I'm "might" even build a MS Word add-in that reads the XML and creates an "editable" RTF file, but with a different appearance from my program's output.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Finally, I'm already looking ahead to version 2.0 which will have a much cleaner menu and navigation interface, keeping the same basic look-n-feel of the decklist entry fields. Plus, I'm redesigning the card suggestion "widget" from scratch (originally developed by the Russian developer I give credit to in my HELP screen), and I'm building a better help file. The offline version will also continue to improve as well.

I'm committed to keeping this program as open-source and running on local PC browsers so that players can feel safe that their decklists will NOT be saved on internet servers somewhere. That's why the SAVE feature in this program requires a bit of effort, forcing the user to save the file on their "local" PC. After that, it's totally up to the players as to how and if they want to "share" that file.
