Mesprit Lv.X's Supreme Blast without the other two in play

If I use Mesprit Lv.X's Surpreme Blast and I don't have Azelf Lv.X and Uxie Lv.X in play, do I still discard the energy? Does the "this attack does nothing" mean the energy discard too? (I already know that it won't do the damage)

You would not discard the energy.
