Hello and welcome to Da Gym. Please note the additional rules for posting in the Deck Help and Strategy section. In the immortal words of Joshman, "We don't rate decks, we fix them!"

Deck Name: Crest Wave (Can anyone think of anything better?)

Pokemon- 23

1 Erika's Dratini
3 Staryu (Base Set)
1 Chansey (Base Set)
1 Sneasel (Neo Genesis)
1 Poliwrath (Base Set)
2 Poliwhirl (Base Set)
4 Poliwag (Base Set)
1 Blastoise (Base Set)
1 Dark Blastoise (Team Rocket)
2 Dark Wartortle (Team Rocket)
2 Wartortle (Base Set)
4 Squirtle (Base Set)

Trainers- 13

3 Potion (Base Set)
2 Super Potion (Base Set)
2 Switch (Base Set)
1 Full Heal (Base Set)
2 Pokeball (Jungle)
1 Pokemon Trader (Base Set)
1 Professor Elm (Neo Genesis)
1 Professor Oak (Base Set)

Energy- 24

20 Water Energy
3 Double Colorless Energy (Base Set)
1 Metal Energy (Neo Genesis)

Strategy-

The Metal Energy is basicly there to attach to Erikas Dratini and use it as a staller along with it's Pokemon Power "Strange Barrier". The Chansey is also used as a staller. The point of stalling is so that I can develop my Blastoise, Dark Blastoise, and Poliwrath (and use the Poliwrath to suck up my opponents Energy). The Staryus and Sneasel are basicly used to go in for some quick damage, and then retreat perhaps. Since I kind of rely on getting either one of my Blastoise's or Poliwrath, I use the Pokemon Trader, Pokeballs, and Professors to do so (I would use more Pokemon Traders if I had more!). Finally, since all three of those Pokemon have retreat costs of 3, I keep a few switches handy and get them out and then heal them up with either Potions or Super Potions.

Any suggestions, comments, or tips?

Hate to break this to you but a Metal Erika's Dratini still takes damage. Metal will reduce the attack by 10 (so you're safe from attacks that do 10 damage) but anything doing 20 or more damage still gets damage to Erika's Dratini, so it still takes 10 with Strange Barrier.

Are you sure about that? This is the EXACT text from the Erika's Dratini Card-

"Pokemon Power: Strange Barrier, Whenever an attack by a Basic Pokemon (including your own) does 20 or more damage to Erika's Dratini (after applying Weakness and Resistance), reduce that damage to 10. (Any other effects of attac\ks still happen.) This power stops working while erika's Dratini is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed."

It says reduce it to 10 damage, not take 10 less damage. And the Metal Energy makes it take 10 less damage, thus it should be immune to any damage done by a Basic Pokemon and makes for a good staller.

Mr. President, the metal energy is applied before the power. A hitmonchan jabs an erika's dratini with metal for 10.

If it were power then metal...a Mr. Mime with 2 metal energy would be invincible.

Really? Well I haven't played in a LONG time (that's why my cards are so outdated) so I guess I forgot that! Thanks.

Berries and Gold Berries instead of Potion and Super Potion. Both Professors should be Elm.

Alright, I took out the Metal Energy and 1 Double Colorless Energy and added in 2 Tyrogues (Neo Discovery). I added them to help cover my weakness to Electric Pokemon, and since they only need Colorless Energy to attack, I don't have to mix in Fighting Energy and hope I draw it in a game to use it! Now what do you guys think?
