Hey guys,
I got an idea. Meganium is a great Stage2 with 100HP, Water Resistance, solid Attacks and stuff. The first attack is nice.
[G] 20 Sleepoweder. The defending Pokemon is now asleep.
You can get 2 Meganiums out on Turn 2 (Drop 2 Chikoritas, ek, play 2 Breeder into Meganium).
The second attack is also solid.
[GGC] 50 Solarbeam.
Just attack with Sleep Powder until you get the Energies for Solar Beam, and, if you need to heal, play Pokemon Center and repeat that. Of course you need 2 Energy Stadium
I thought it could be good with Muk, so Slowking is not a problem.
Enough said, here's the Deck.
4 Chikorita 2 Bayleef 4 Meganium 2 Grimer 2 Muk 1 Pichu 1 Tyrogue 3 Cleffa
12 Grass Energy
4 Professor Elm 4 Pokemon Center 4 Copycat 3 Double Gust 3 Pokemon Trader 3 Pokemon Breeder 2 Gold Berry 2 Focus Band 2 Energy Stadium 2 Switch
I like it alot. I played that Deck first when we got home from the Gym Challenge in Lucca, and it owned my friend Daniel's Poliwrath Deck every game. And, Poliwrath will become popular, I think.
But...this Deck got a problem. Metal Snake, Big Wall, The Wall, The Beast, whatever, Steelix. Steelix kills this...
Have you got any fixes or something? Thank you in Advice

how about a couple of ideas for Steelix.
First -2 GB -1 Elm
So that gives 3 spaces. Now I do some radical things that some think are crazy, but they work.
First idea is the obvious one +2 Yanma +1 FB
Second idea works against weakness +2 Magmar (Gen) +1 FB
And here is another option which does dble duty -2 Grimer -2 Muk -2 GB
+2 Magby (Gen) +1 FB +3 Recycle Energy
Hope this helps a little. Sounds like a good deck idea and I hope that it works for you.

Nice looking deck. Here's what I would try if Steelix is prevelant in your area. These changes really shouldn't affect the focus of your deck.
-2 Grass energy -1 Elm -4 Center -1 Copycat -1 Energy Stadium -1 Pichu -1 Rogue (hey I gotta make room somehow!) +1 Grimer +1 Muk +1 Time Capsule +2 Murkrow (Steelix Hates a banded Krow) +4 Dark Energy +1 Unown M +1 Focus Band
If the idea of adding Krows doesn't appeal to you, consider a couple magnifiers to allow the Meg to hit Steelix much harder. That would also free up some room for a couple centers.

We have someone that plays a deck exactly like that... but with Poke Nurse.... Really, you should add a 2/2 line w/ Psyduck and Light Golduck for backup.....

agreed on the steelix... i would drop down a few magnifiers and maybe some fire pokes but i dont have my pk book and am to lazy to go get it sorry.... but this is a nice deck and it probably could take out a kingdra because of that resistance that would be nice .
nice job on the new deck keep it up, see ya laters, THE KID

Another variation of this deck is changing the Muk line to Slowking line.
If you ever facing a steel deck, here is the change
-1 Pokemon Center -1 Copycat + 2 Prof Oak's Research
The strategy is stall until your opponent's deck is empty! If you feel your hand is too big, just use Oak's Research to minimize your hand.Use Meganium's Sleep Powder attack to prevent steelix from attacking. But if your opponent is playing Prof. Elm,better change the Muk to Slowking.(Full Heal can also turn the table)
For fire, just use sleep powder every turn.Make sure the Energy stadium won't help your fire opponent.
Hope you happy with the change.

I suggest that you use some fire pokemon such as neogen Magmar . You could also use another energy type or use Elekid's . Other than that you can also take out the Muk evolution chain and use other cards such as Expedition Ponyta and Rapidash

That promo mew shall end the reign of steelix.
Just beware of Pichu (you have Muk too)

I have been using my super secret Unown A TeCh in my Steelix decks for just that reason. Slap down an unown A, attach a rainbow and KO the promo Mew in one shot. It's worth the sacrifice.

[29] Trainers
<3> Focus Bands <1> Gold berry <3> Pokemon nurse <4> Elm <3> Trader <3> copycat <2> Oaks research <2> Breeder <3> Double Gust <1> nrg stadium <1> Time Capsule
[15] nrg <4> Psy <1> Rainbow <10> Grass Energy Steelix is still hard to beat but the duck helps. It also coveers your weakness to fire. You can confuse with the basic as well. I may play a magnifier or 2. PsYcOdAd

Wow, unknown A for tech on promo Mew, cool idea.
Problem, Murkrow eats them for lunch.
Hate to have a locked unknown up against a Murkrow with Slowking support.
Just a counter-thought.

Want to really make it sick?
Add Croconaw from expedition to the mix and damp the flames of any fire decks that may give you trouble.
Remember thats a three colourless energy 40hp attack that will KO a Magcargo in one hit from an 80HP stage 1.
Meganium/Croconaw.. it rocks
Works really well with the other Meganium and it's Pokemon Power
The deck so far looks like this..
Pokemon 21
3 x Cleffa (Neo Genesis) 4 x Totodile (Expedition - Paralyzing Gaze) 3 x Croconaw (Expedition) 4 x Chikorita (Expedition - Razor Leaf) 4 x Bayleaf (Expedition) 2 x Meganium (Expedition - Solarbeam) 1 x Meganium (Expedition - Poisonpowder)
Trainers 23
3 x Oaks Research 4 x Elm 3 x Trader 3 x Double Gust 2 x Switch 3 x Scoop Up 4 x Gold Berry 1 x Time Capsule
Energy 16
3 x Full Heal Energy 13x Grass Energy
Tech has yet to be added but so far it hasn't needed any and has seen off all challenges.

Seen the Meganium/croc deck played in St. Louis. Does pretty well, still has its problems with fire, with the totos and crocs being double gusted, but everything I have dealt with has that problem.
I personally like the 2 attack Meganium with a Pichu backup to take care of the Powers Pokes.
Note to all modified players, I will be hosting 4 tourneys this month in St. Louis, and will report on all of the hits and misses that the decks will see.
See you on the boards.

If you can find enough speed to get Double Gusts, your grass pokemon will destroy the Onix. Another idea is to add the holo version of Meganium which has an auto poison ability quickly crippling Steelix with its heavy retreat. You may also find some room for Magnifiers, which prevent the Defending pokemon from using its resistance for the attack that turn.
Thanx . . .

Whizkiddo: How I said, Steelix owns me =/.
CmonIWanaPLaYa: Thanks for the fix! I think, Yanma + Unown M can take care of Steelix. Well, I must playtast that.
Pokenaut: Well, I didn't want to add Murkrow, I wanted to keep it all grass. But, it looks like I have to play Murkrow (+ Unown M). Thanks for the fix!
Raikou1234: Light Golduck sounds great. But, then, I would have to play Psychic Energy. I dunno. That would the change the whole Center-Theme. Anyways, I'll try that out. Thanks!
zapdoskid2k2: Thank you. Magnifier...=/. I'll hit the 3-metaled-Steelix with Solarbeam. 20 damage. That's not enough
Gyarados vision: I'll try the Deck with Slowking later. Thanks!
Mad Of Feraligatr: Magmar sounds good, but Murkrow or Light Golduck are just better I think. And, I need the Muk, or I lose vs. Slowking. Thanks.
Meganium45: Meganium + Muk + Mew doesn't seem to work . Maybe I'll take out the Muk Line. Thanks.
Pokenaut (again): That's a cool TecH idea .
PsycoDad: Your Decks looks very good to me. I may try that out! Thanks!!
ukpokemonpro: YES, a friend of mine also told me about a 2-2 Line Croconaw Expedition. Your Deck looks good, but I'd play just 2 Totodile/2 Croconaw. Thank you.
Meganium45: Maybe a Meganium/3 Pichu/Croconaw Deck can work!?
silphymon2034: The idea of a TecHed Meganium Holo is a nice idea. I'll think about it, thanks.
Now, here are three more variants...
Meganium/Golduck
4 Chikorita 2 Bayleef 4 Meganium (3/1 Expedition) 2 Psyduck 2 Light Golduck 2 Pichu 1 Tyrogue 3 Cleffa
9 Grass Energy 4 Psychic Energy
4 Professor Elm 4 Copycat 3 Pokemon Nurse 3 Gold Berry 3 Double Gust 3 Pokemon Trader 3 Pokemon Breeder 2 Focus Band 2 Energy Stadium 2 Switch
Thats 62 cards. I really dunno what to take out.
Meganium/Murkrow
4 Chikorita 2 Bayleef 4 Meganium (3/1 Expedition) 2 Murkrow 2 Grimer 2 Muk 1 Tyrogue 1 Pichu 1 Unown M
10 Grass Energy 3 Darkness Energy
4 Professor Elm 4 Pokemon Center 3 Copycat 3 Double Gust 3 Pokemon Trader 3 Pokemon Breeder 2 Gold Berry 2 Focus Band 2 Energy Stadium 2 Switch
That looks very good to me.
Meganium/Croconaw
4 Chikorita 2 Bayleef 4 Meganium (3/1 Expedition) 2 Totodile 2 Croconaw (Expedition) 3 Pichu 3 Cleffa
12 Grass Energy 2 Full Heal Energy

Meganium 45,
quote: .. totos and crocs being double gusted, but everything I have dealt with has that problem.
That's why I run a 4/3 line on the crocs so you can scoop up am Grass type and switch to water don't play the big boy meganium at all then
I am thinking of Pichu's 4 powers slowking/entei/magcargo and Scoop up works well there too.

I think that u should put in the PROMO smergle(W/paint) in ur deck with murkrow. U change it's type to psychic and lock it down w/krow. Another possiblity is to use it against fire decks and change there type to cover ur weakness.
Hope this helps

I played my deck yesterday at CI and finished 2nd, loosing to a steelix/kingdra achetypical deck. I was able to beat a good entie/macargo deck that I lost to earlier (6-5 close game) in the top 4. Pichu and light golduck were enough to win! After yesterday, I am going to make the following changes: [21] Pokemon <3> Cleffa <2> Pichu <4> e Chikorita <2> e Bayleaf <3> e meganium sleep powder/solarbeam <3> psyduck <3> light golduck - fire & steelix <1> unknown M - steelix
[25] Trainers
<4> Focus Bands <2> Pokemon nurse <4> Elm <3> Trader <2> copycat <2> Oaks research <2> Breeder <4> Double Gust <1> nrg stadium <1> Time Capsule
[14] nrg <4> Psy <1> Rainbow <9> Grass Energy I added 1 double gust (you need 4), a light golduck, unknow M and a focus band. I removed 1 grass nrg, 1 gold berry, 1 nurse, and 1 copy cat. I am sure it will play much better against stelix and fire with these changes. My first version played smeargle and murkrow and lost miserably to fire. The neo magmar takes less space than light golduck but does not help against fire. PsYcOdAd [ November 11, 2002, 11:07 AM: Message edited by: PsycoDad ]

Weeeeeeell. I've been working on Meganium since April... I've playtested against just about every deck, and I finally got it working just like I need it to. I win 3/5 games against Entei/Cargo, and I almost always beat Steelix with it. Here it is: (It's a tad different )
Pokémon 19
4 Chikorita (2 50 HP Exped, 1 40 HP Exped, 1 50 HP Genesis) 2 Bayleef (1 80 HP Genesis, 1 Exped) 4 Meganium (3 Wild Growth, 1 Solarbeam) 3 Cleffa 2 Murkrow 2 Pichu 1 Tyrogue 1 Smeargle (Promo)
Trainers 27
4 Elm 4 Trader 4 Bill 3 Breeder 3 DBG 3 Focus 2 Gold Berry 1 Elm's Training Method 1 Strength Charm 1 Energy Stadium 1 Time Capsule
Energy 14
11 Grass 3 Dark
Ok. The Wild Growth Meganium is also a very good card. You can still swarm, just watch out for Muk. It counters just about every deck there is, including Steelix, Kingdra, and Entei/Cargo. [For Steelix, use Smeargle to Paint it to Psychic while you have a Murkrow benched. Next turn, retreat to Murkrow and Mean Look it. Now Murkrow resists Steelix, and it does 10 less damage for every Metal attached to it.] [For Kingdra, just use the Expedition Chikoritas, Bayleef, and Meganium.] [For Entei/Cargo, Pichu w/ Focus Band deals some damage, while you build up Chikoritas and Bayleefs on the bench, preparing them to evolve to Meganium. Try to eliminate Healing Fields if they play 'em.] I know you wanted a deck based around the Expedition Meganium, but I think Wild Growth is a little better of a choice, since Muk really isn't heavily played. Despite what most think, the Trainer line actually works, and quite well mind you. You usually have to start the game off with an Eeeeeeek, though.

First of all, thanks to everyone who helped me with it.
Werner JR Quevedo: Ahh, yes, of course. You are the coolest Judge I've ever seen . To your fix: I mean, I haven't seen any Slowking/Steelix Decks around and if I face a Steelix, I won't play the Muk-Line out, I'll keep them in my hand (In Lucca, I HAD to attack with Muk, you know, bad draws and stuff). So I think I can play both Muk and Unown M. Thanks!
Pooka: Yes..I know that you're a Meganium Fanatic, but I'm trying the Deck with the Solar Beam one, 'cause I've already played the other one. Thanks anyways. [ November 12, 2002, 04:57 AM: Message edited by: Master of Skill ]

Ever herd of Magnifier? it isn't a Pokemon tool, so you ca nattach it and a Tool at the same time. It says: Attach Magnifier to one of your Pokemon. If the Pokemon Magnifier is attached to damages a Pokemon, ignore Resistance for that attack.
Put 4 of those in and just throw a Sleep Powder and Solarbeam at Steelix for the regular damage!
