Hey all, yea I know I don't post much. I don't post much anywhere, but in case you did care, I have been really busy with my job (saving money for Origins after all). Anyways, I am still not ready to release the deck I have been working on, but just to show that I haven't died, etc, here's something I just thought of last night. It's based off of Mega and Metalhead's Steelix/Mantine (VERY good deck btw). Anyways, enough talk, here's the deck:

Twisted Gymbo
Modfied Formatē

Pokemon: 19
3 Onix (SI)
3 Steelix
3 Tentacool
3 Tentacruel
3 Mantine (Destiny)
3 Cleffa
1 Tyrogue

Energy: 16
11 Water
4 Metal
1 Rainbow

Trainers: 25
4 Professor Elm
4 Pokemon Trader
4 Bill
4 Gold Berry
3 Double Gust
3 Balloon Berry
2 Pokemon Tower
1 Time Capsule

Strategy: Alright you can stop scratching your head now, I am not crazy. This is a simple Steelix beatdown deck, however, I just introduced to it some strange support. Mantine is there for a very obvious reason, to kill Fire quickly. Now, why am I using Tentacruel?! Ok, well, even though I crush Kingdra, Tentacruel can Poison them, then you play my tecH Stadium, retreat for Steelix and finish them. The status factor becomes a tool to use whenever I want. Instapoison and/or poss confusion for cheap energy costs is great, making it useable throughout the game. Powering up Mantine or Tentacruel isn't hard, as each require only WW. Ok, so I have: Steelix which is a beatdown on a stick by itself. Then my crazy Water support in Mantine and Tentacruel swarms.

Further testing and more developed strategy using Tentacruel: The idea is to play Pokemon Tower, then Poison a Kingdra if they are powering up to Twister. This presents them with a problem. They cannot use the Recycles with Tower in play. And if they Twister, they have a 25% chance of failure and they remain poisoned. Now, Tower also presents them with the problem of Pokemon Centering as well, and even then, they stay Poisoned. Now if they attach and retreat off the Poison, they have wasted a turn. And I can retreat Tentacruel for free. Tentacruel's status ability is vital to this deck versus other threats such as Kingdra and other Steelix decks. Tentacruel swarms are important late game when the opponent has exhausted all of their Double Gusts. The objective of this deck is simple. Use swarm tactics to use your support Pokemon (Mantine and Tentacruel) to the best of their abilities. Fast support is always good anyways. With this deck you have plenty of options to use. You have beatdown with Steelix. You have Status with Tentacruel. You have swarm/early damage with Mantine. Cruel and Mantine dissect Fire second turn. Mantine doesn't even need to evolve.

This is quite possibly my favorite MMF deck I've seen. Why? First cause it's my own version. [Big Grin] But seriously, I have so many different options to use, so I am not struggling with Energy problems or speed. Well, whaddya guys think?

Well you may want to consider takink out 1 Mantine and adding in another Tyrouge. Also you could take out 1 Tentacruel and add another Onix. Consider adding a few shining Steelix to this deck by taking out the Tentacool, Tentacruel combo.

Also consider taking out the Time Capsule and adding in another Rainbow Energy. They can be very helpful at sticky times.

Also if your going to add those Shining Stellix you'll need some Fighting Energy.

Hope you like my suggestions! [Smile]

Clouded: Why not just make them all one post?

Gymbo: It looks fun, but why play tentacruel? It doesn't hurt steelix that badly, as every MMF steelix I've seen so far plays Double Gust AND either FHE or Baloon berry (or both.) I see what he's supposed to do here, but wow...there's got to be something better than tentacruel. Maybe try quilfish in here instead. He can poison too. (And he's flippy, but he's also a basic.)

So my fix is:

- The Tentacruel Line
+ A couple of Quilfish
+ Flips
+ Deck Space

What? They banned slowking?
Good Job. :)

HEY! You stole my Tentacruel deck! well sort of, lol. Looks almost the same as mine, except I played quag. Looks cool, I dunno if I trust steelix at all in MMF, with all the fire and all. Well, GL with it. May the Mantines be with you. [ROFL]
