Our Gym Leader wasn't at the league last week, so we will be having the final tournament this Saturday. There are three of us in the family, so I will be building three decks. He likes us to build new decks for the tournament related to the energy type for that season, which is FIRE!
Here are the requirements for the 12 and under group: 1. Trainers - Rocket and on 2. Pokemon - Rocket and down (Base through Rocket) 3. Evolutions must be fire 4. Fire and Special Energy only 5. Any promo cards (holo energy promos dont' count)
Heartburn
Pokemon - 19 4 Charmander 3 Charmeleon 2 Charizard 2 Ditto 2 Lickitung 2 Chansey 2 Porygon (TR) 2 Magmar (Fossil)
Trainers 18 4 Professor Elm 4 Focus Band 4 Gold Berry 2 Double Gust 2 Warp Point 2 Energy Stadium
Energy 23 15 Fire 4 Double Colorless 4 Full Heal
Next we have the rules for the 13 and up group: 1. Rocket and on 2. Evolutions must be Light, Dark or Blaines 3. Fire, Darkness, Psychic or Miracle Energy only 4. Any Promo Cards
Here are two decks:
Psyburn Factor Pokemon - 17 3 Blaines Growlithe (Lv. 20 Gym Challenge) 2 Blaines Aracanine (Gym Challenge) 3 Psyduck (Destiny) 2 Light Golduck (Destiny) 2 Mewtwo (MP) 1 Shining Mewtwo (Destiny) 2 Elekid (Genesis) 2 Cleffa (Genesis)
Trainers 22 4 Professor Elm 4 Focus Band 4 Nightly Garbage Run 4 Double Gust 2 Masterball 2 Trash Exchange 1 Cinnabar Gym 1 Rockets Minefield Gym
Energy 21 12 Fire 8 Psychic 1 Miracle
AND
Lights Out! 1.2 Pokemon 22 4 Gastly (Destiny) 4 Dark Haunter (Destiny) 3 Dark Gengar (Destiny) 3 Cleffa (Genesis) 3 Misdreavus (Revelation) 3 Psyduck (Destiny) 2 Light Golduck (Destiny)
Trainers 18 4 Focus Band 4 Professor Elm 3 Double Gust 2 Rockets Hideout 2 Bosss Way 2 Nightly Garbage Run 1 Chaos Gym
Energy 20 14 Psychic 4 Darkness 2 Full Heal
I'm using Porygon in Heartburn so you can change weakness to fire. I've wanted to have a deck with a "Shining" pokemon and here's my chance with Shining Mewtwo. And last of all I needed a water pokemon to put out the fire and I'm going to try out Neo Destiny's Psyduck and Light Golduck in both decks.
Any suggestions that you have would help greatly!

Wow, the requirements for the 12 and under...
Word of the Day: ARCANINE
[14] 4 Growlithe 4 Arcanine 3 Magmar 3 Chansey
[16] 8 Fire Energy 4 Double Colorless Energy 4 Metal Energy
[30] 4 Professor Elm 4 Misty's Wrath 4 Gold Berry 3 Rocket's Sneak Attack 3 Chaos Gym 3 Energy Stadium 3 Double Gust 3 Time Capsule 3 Imposter Oak's Revenge
Think about it; Base Arcanine's weaknesses were Water and Energy Removal. Since we've removed BOTH from this format, it should be THE best choice.
I'd play a Dark Gengar deck.
[17] 4 Gastly 3 Dark Haunter 3 Dark Gengar 3 Cleffa 2 Murkrow 2 Misdreavus
[17] 12 Psychic Energy 4 Darkness 1 Full Heal Energy
[26] 4 Professor Elm 4 Focus Band 4 Misty's Wrath 3 Chaos Gym 3 The Boss's Way 3 Rocket's Sneak Attack 3 Double Gust 2 Time Capsule
Good luck! I hope this helps .
[EDIT]
With that last deck, if you want a Golduck, I'd suggest Dark. That way you can add in Rocket's Hideout. But the reason I didn't use Hideout to begin with is that its not stable, and also, it may help your opponents. Besides that, Light Golduck isn't a good choice because there won't be too much Dark, unless someone goes rogue with Tyranitar. But even then, Misdreavus can wipe the floor with Tyranitar. BassLizzard, We're playing at Wizards in Montclair.
My husband wants to play with his Tyranitar deck, but he would have to go with Dark Pupitar and Dark Tyranitar, since evolutions need to be Light, Dark (either "Dark" with Pokemon name or a "Darkness" pokemon) or Blaine's. So his new deck would be the one with Blaine's Growlithe/Arcanine.
I, on the other hand, play with the Dark Gengar deck, so I only have to make minor adjustments. I did have Drowzee and Murkrow in the deck, but took them out for the Psyduck/Light Golduck. I'll take a look at the Dark Golduck. I figured many players would be using Darkness energy and Light Golduck could do additional damage with its attack and if it comes up against a fire pokemon that is weak to water it will do double the damage.
My son likes Charizard, but I'll run the Growlithe/Arcanine idea by him and see what he thinks.
Thanks again.

Dark Ho-oh, you are correct. However, our Gym Leader likes to throw us a twist for the league tournament at the end of the season. He comes up with a list of allowed cards, so people will create new decks.
So, the 12 and under age group is allowed to use Pokemon from Base, Jungle, Fossil, Base Set 2 and Team Rocket. That would allow Growlithe, Arcanine, Magmar, Chansey and Double Colorless Energy.

Charizard's WAY too slow for my tastes. Arcanine is much faster. Just turn two double-edge that Charmeleon .
Hrm, well the only Darkness Pokemon are Umbreon, Tyranitar, Houndoom, Sneasel, and Murkrow.
Sneasel and Murkrow are no problem (wait a minute, GENESIS Sneasel is allowed?)...
Tyranitar can be taken by Misdreavus, as can the other two. For one, Light Golduck won't be doing much to a Tyranitar that can KO it in one hit... better off running pure Misdreavus or something.
Hey, what about turbo Blaine's Arcanine, with Entei (for the 13+)?
[14] 4 Entei (Holo) 4 Blaine's Growlithe 3 Blaine's Arcanine 3 Cleffa
[22] 22 Fire Energy
[24] 4 Professor Elm 4 Misty's Wrath 4 Double Gust 3 Blaine 3 Cinnabar City Gym 3 Good Manners 3 Time Capsule
That seems like it would work pretty well. It's very fast, and can 1HKO any Tyranitar that comes up. Maybe toss in a Smeargle for a little help against Dark Gengar.
Dark Ho-Oh: This isn't Modified .
