If any of you have read this topic HERE, or have noticed that many images were not loading last week and response time was sluggish, but this week it's fine, there's a simple explanation, it's because other sections of the Wizard.COMmunity have cleaned up their boards of old, dead posts. And we must do the same. We will try to keep this process as painless as possible and do it as quick as we can so that the servers will have a much better response time.

This cleaning is something that will have to be done on a regular basis.

Just to add a bit more information to what BJJ is saying, when we prune tonight, all posts older than a set number of days (let's say 60) will be deleted. Before we do this, we will try to move anything of great significance to the Legendary Posts Forum.

The reason for pruning is to increase server performance. Keeping track of all those old posts is very taxing to the server. Pruning has been done regularly on the other Wizards Boards, but we haven't been doing it on the PokeGym. We have posts dating back to October 2001. Time to clean house.

We just wanted everyone to know why things may look a little different in the morning. This will also explain why you may not be able to bring up that old post you are looking for. The pruning program uses the latest date a reply is posted to a thread. That means, if a post was created 6 months ago, but someone replied to it yesterday, it won't be pruned. It is only considered one day old.
