I have always been a fan of Psychic/Electric type decks (I was overpleased when the original Zap deck was introduced), but I have never got my decks off the ground, so to speak. Here is my Ghostly Shock Back to Basics deck. I know the earliest cards best, so I designed this deck:

Bear in mind that the Dark Pokemon are Rocket, not Challenge.

Pokemon (26)

1 Mew (promo)
4 Gastly (Fossil)
2 Haunter (Fossil)
1 Gengar
3 Pikachu
1 Dark Raichu
3 Magnemite
1 Magneton
4 Voltorb
2 Electrode (chain lightning version, LV42)
3 Eevee
1 Jolteon

Trainers - 11

2 Bill
4 Potion
2 Super Potion
4 Full Heal
1 Boss Way

Energy - 23

13 Electric
10 Psychic

This deck, you may think, is basic. It is supposed to be. It damages the opponents bench whilst protecting my own Pokemon. Plus, any big evolving Pokemon are stopped by Mew's infamous Devolution Beam.

I know I should use newer types, but I feel that at the end of the day it is not impressing by the newness of your card set, but of the power of your Pokemon.

Togetic, the evolved form of Togepi. Many underestimate Togetic's battle abilities but this Pokemon can use Flying moves and can learn nearly every TM and HM.

Nice deck! Try to add another Haunter and another Gengar-- Haunter is pretty hard to beat, and two Gengar are twice the fun. I'd drop a Potion and a Full Heal for them, since you already don't seem to depend much on trainers (good move, imo). BTW, which sets are your Voltorb, Pikachu, Eevee, Magnemite, and Magneton?
Finally, try to add in a Rocket's Mewtwo-- can you say fun? I agree with you that the old cards are sometimes just as good as the new ones-- often, even better!

Voltorb, Pikachu, Eevee, Magnemite, and Magneton?

Um...oh, sorry. Magneton is Challenge set. Magnemite is basic, however. Eevee is jungle. Voltorb is basic and Pika is also challenge.

Ill try to get a Rocket Mewtwo somewhere.

Anyway...

1 Mew (promo)
4 Gastly (Fossil)
3 Haunter (Fossil)
2 Gengar
3 Pikachu
1 Dark Raichu
3 Magnemite
1 Magneton
4 Voltorb
2 Electrode (chain lightning version, LV42)
3 Eevee
1 Jolteon

Trainers - 9

2 Bill
3 Potion
2 Super Potion
3 Full Heal
1 Boss Way

Energy - 23

13 Electric
10 Psychic

Think you have too many evolutions, try taking out Magnemite / Magneton and adding some draw power, also take out 2 Elec energy and put in 2 dark for Dark Raichu to do more damage

Like -= B u R a K K i =- said, drop an evolution set, but I'd add a few more trainers. You have plenty of healing trainers, but you need more draw and search power. A few switcher trainers, like Switch or Balloon Berry, couldn't hurt, either, even though most of your retreat costs are 0 or 1.

For Rocket's Mewtwo drop the Mew or add more Mew.
