I'm trying to put the following deck together and before I do so I would like to know if it would still be good against the more current cards.

Pokemon (14)
4 Hitmonchan
4 Electabuzz
3 Machop
3 Scyther

Energy (24)
11 Fighting Energy
10 Lightning Energy
3 Double Colorless Energy

Trainers (22)
4 Bill
2 Professor Oak
1 Item Finder
4 Energy Removal
3 Super Energy Removal
2 Energy Retrieval
4 Plus Power
2 Gust of Wind

Strategy: It's a classic beatdown deck. Must you know more?

not really, but I'm not the best with Open decks... Anyway, where do you play at? We play over in Rochester Hills if you'd like to come, but we play Modified..look over in the tournaments forum...

I used to play at Lakeside Mall... I don't know what city it is in. I don't really play Pokemon anymore, I play Magic: The Gathering but I saw this deck in an old book of mine and thought that if I traded a few cards I could build it.

NO.
WHY?

THANKS to Genesis there is an incredible FREE RETREATING BBP: Sneasal.

THe 2-energy retreat cost can be painful now a days.

AND THANKS to Genesis Dark Vileplume LIVED to ve a tourney worthy deck and the NOW BANNED from Modified (like sneasal) SLOWKING is a cool Haymaker stopper.

SO HAYMAKERS must be TecHed (or depending on your metagame) agains powers:

Brock's Mankey
Muk
Pichu
Magby.

IMO

3 Cleffa (anti-lass)
3 Sneasal
2 Murkrow
1 Scyther
2 Tyrogue (chansey/clefeable)
AND/OR
2 grimer
2 Muk
or
3 of Pichu/magby/Brock's Mankey

Trainers
4 CPU
4 Item Finders
2 Oak
2 Oak's Research
3 Lass
2 GOW
1 Double Gust (retreat & Gust)
2 Energy Charge
2 Sprout Tower
1 Town Volunteers

Energy
4 Dark
4 Rainbow
3 Recycle Energy
2 DCE

Personally I like Ghastly to bring back energy
