MetalHead and Amber posted some cool decks. Here's my version of it:
Liquid Steel v.2.1
Pokemon(19) 3 Onix(SI) 3 Steelix 3 Eevee(Promo) 2 Dark Vaporeon 2 Umbreon 3 Pichu 3 Cleffa
Trainer(24) 4 Elm 4 Bill 2 Mary 2 Pokemon Trader 3 Focus Band 2 Gold Berry 3 Double Gust 2 Balloon Berry 1 Time Capsule 1 RHO
Energy(17) 4 Metal 4 Dark 2 Rainbow 7 Water
I play-tested it today and it did ok. My friend Marvin brought up Gyrados and i thought about it. Should i play him instead of Dark Vaporeon? Dark Vaporeon is a cool card but just doesn't have enough power in it to do major damge. Here are the reasons why Gyrados might take his place:
1.Takes out Phlosion in 1 hit. 2.Realible 50 damgae 3.Has 100 hp.
I stil dunno. What do u guys think? [ May 19, 2002, 09:25 AM: Message edited by: Dark Ho-oh ]

u only have 3 Eevees but 4 Eeveelutions. is that ok with u?
i would probably still play Dark Vaporeon. it has 80 HP (with RHO), good enough. Eevee is much quicker to evolve, and survives much longer than Magikarp. u also have ER effect with Dark Vap and 60 damage versus Typhlosion, when combined with 40 from Whirlpool, kills it.
i also think u have 1 too many Pichu. take out 1 and add 1 more RHO.
-------------------- that was my 2 cents. don't steal it or anything, it's just 2 cents, nothing more...

3/4 works fine with me. It also HAS TO work fine bcuz i con't find room for another eevee. i think i'll be sticking with the vaporeon. Oh and bout the pichu, he's my second line of defence against big fire and in my area, slowking is EVERYWERE.

drop 1 pichu for an extra evee(2 pichu will do fine) Don't go with gyarados, with evee you can evolve faster and now you can evolve to 2 pokemon.

but with the eevees, i have a choice of either getting umbreon or dark vaporeon. i thought about it and gyrados might not be worh it cuz of the stnky magikarp. if the karp was TR, i would of probrably use it it but it's not the TR 1.

Werner: As I have played this deck type since it's inception, trust me the Dark Vaporeon is PLENTY strong, and is ONLY used against Fire. When facing a non-fire deck the Dark Vap NEVER should see play unless as tech to try and remove another Steelix's metal. BTW, Vap has one attack that does 30 for 3(besides the Whirlpool for 20 and the ER) which is EASILY made 40 by costing one of the three with a dark energy. When NOT facing Fire, the Steelix and Umbreon together can thwart nearly anything thrown at them. I am currently playtesting a new version of this deck running fighting energy instead and using Hydrocutter Kabutops (it's mmf format) instead of the Dark Vaporeon. Even with losing the Dark Vap, I am TRYING to keep the Umbreon in the deck, as it's such a strong card and works well finishing what Tail crush leaves alive. Gyrados takes longer to power up, and the Karp is what any fire deck will focus on killing should they see it out. Not the same with Eevee. I can see what you're trying to do, and it's the same thing I am attempting with Kabutops...to turn your water type into more than just coverage for Steelix's weakness. I am not convinced from either my new version or yours or anyones that this is a viable alternative to just using the water for Tech. Actual playtesting IRL for my new version starts at League tonight. I can only hope that if I DO face fire, that they waste their Double Gusts on my Mysterious Fossils and KO them w/out prizes while I power up and Umbreon and an Onix to hit them that way. BTW, the whole "Archetype" was started by the Brooks with their Steelix/Dark Blastoise deck that took a STS title. In their version the Dark Blasty WAS used as an attacker alongside Steelix. If I remember correctly, they ran neither Murkrow OR Umbreon as an assist. As a plus to my Steelix/Umbreon/Dark Vap deck, tossing a Dark Energy on your Steelix is ALWAYS unexpected. Good luck with the testing. [ May 20, 2002, 09:30 AM: Message edited by: Pokenaut ]
