This is yet another theme deck remake. You're thinking, "Carrington's done all of the Base Set theme decks!" This one's a remake of a Jungle theme deck. Here is the original deck:
Pokémon (23) 4 Bellsprout (Jungle) 1 Gloom (Jungle) 4 Nidoran (female) (Jungle) 2 Nidorina (Jungle) 2 Oddish (Jungle) 2 Weepinbell (Jungle) 4 Abra (Base Set) 1 Jynx (Base Set) 2 Kadabra (Base Set) 1 Kangaskhan (Jungle)
Trainers (9) 2 Bill (Base Set) 2 Gust of Wind (Base Set) 1 Pokédex (Base Set) 3 Potion (Base Set) 1 Switch (Base Set)
Energy (28) 17 Grass Energy 11 Psychic Energy
Now it was time to remake this classic deck.
First, for the Grass. Three lines, none of which go to completion, is overkill, and the only Bellsprout line in Modified is Aquapolis. I also wasn't too satisifed with an Oddish or Nidoran (female) either. Thus I decided to redo the Grass set, and since there were no starter lines before, there wouldn't be any here, either. That left me with one option: Hoppip. And the Neo Genesis version caught my eye, but the Aquapolis Skiploom got me (you could lower the Retreat Cost with a Poké-BODY, and dealt tons of damage and possible Sleep). Both Neo Revelations and Aquapolis Jumpluffs intrigued me, so I put one of each in the deck. I also put in 2 each of two different Scyther to round out my Grass (one did guaranteed 40, the other can do up to 90). I then threw in 2 Smoochum for Special Energy handling.
Now, for the rest of my Psychics. I figured I wanted at least one line, one that went to completion. Xatu got my view, and made an all-Skyridge Xatu line, and went with Legendary Collection Jynx (that means you can use the old ones from Base Set & Base Set 2 as well, even those that came in the original deck). I took out Kangaskhan to put in a Trainer.
I decided against a Gust strategy, so I made those, as well as the aformentioned Kangaskhan, Switches (you can use any Switch card made). I then made a Grass Energy and the Potions into Moo-Moo Milk. One Grass Energy and one Psychic Energy came out to put in two Copycat, and the two Bill also became Copycat. Then two Grass Energy came out for New Pokédex, of which Pokédex also became. Lastly, 3 Grass Energy were turned into Energy Stadium.
And now, here is Power Reserve 2K3:
Pokémon (22) 4 Hoppip (Neo Genesis) 3 Skiploom (Aquapolis) 1 Jumpluff (Neo Revelations) 1 Jumpluff (Aquapolis) 2 Scyther (Neo Discovery) 2 Scyther (Promo #45) 3 Natu (Skyridge) 2 Xatu (Skyridge) 2 Jynx (Legendary Collection) 2 Smoochum (Neo Revelations)
Trainers (18) 4 Copycat (Expedition) 3 New Pokédex (Neo Genesis) 4 Moo-Moo Milk (Neo Genesis) 4 Switch (Expedition) 3 Energy Stadium (Neo Destiny)
Energy (20) 10 Grass Energy 10 Psychic Energy
And now, for suggestions, fixes, and comments on this deck.
