hey everybody, with origins and gen con some months away, i thought it would be a good time to start a thread that needs to be started. a Team Deck Thread! my partner and i have not been in a tourny since we got 3rd at the first ever team event at origins last year, since we don't have enough people or the time to do one in my area. but itr is my favorite format so i think about it all the time. i love making decks that work good together and playing them to see if they work. now i know there have been many since then, because our team name has gone down in the global rankings, but still is number 1 in ohio. so since there have been some i was starting this thread to get people to start talking about strategy for team play. at origins last year not a lot of people were playing poison, like you would think. i think we played one poison deck all day, and it was a beedrill that couldn't not flip heads, and we beat that team only on the fact that he could not flip heads to poison us.mainly you saw archtype decks being played with some change for the team environment. my partner and i played double kingdra which did fantastic exept for the pesky team rockets meowth , which was banned, and rightly so. it was to good of a card no matter what anyone says. people said well even if it does kill your pokemon it still kills one of our. that wasn't the problem with the card, and i hope the people who banned the card saw it this way, the problem with the card was its huge advantage ratio. a 40hp pokemon knocking out a 90+hp pokemon in one hit. was way to good because while your 90+pokemon was knocked out their 90+hp pokemon was still ready to come in play and the other team had nothing that could astand up to theirs. so it was a really "broken" card because you just traded a 40hp pokemon for a 90+hp pokemon and that was just to good. so anyway i am kindof sure what i want to play but i am asking people through there experience what they think is good and give some deck list for people to see and work out so this next origins will be a really good team environment. here are 2 decks my partner and i tried out: 17-pokemon 4-larvitar 2-pupitar 4-tyrannitar(3 exp.,1 disc.) 2-cleffa 2-tyrogue 1-unknown d 3-hitmonchan(should be gligar though)
25-trainers 4-elm 3-copycat 2-oaks research 3-switch 4-goldberry 2-fanclub(can get your partner out of a first turn ko) 1-town volunteer 3-breeder 3-trader 17-nrg 4-dark 2-rainbow 11-fighting
18-pokemon 3-bulbasaur 2-ivysaur 3-venusaur(exp.) 3-nidoking 2-nidorino 3-nidoran 2-cleffa 1-unknown d 1-tyrogue
25-trainers 4-elm 4-copycat 1-oak's research 4-breeder 3-double gust 3-goldberry 1-town volunteers 2-fanclub 3-trader
17-grass
so there you have it. that point is to get out a venusaur and target the guy that plays tyrannitar and build up tyranitar fast. this is a speed type deck that trys to get a tyrannitar fully powered by turn three and start hitting the bench with damage also. and we all know nidoking is just a beast in team. so please feel free to post on this thread and have people fix decks. or just leave a deck on here and i'll fix them. thanks in advance.

meh, Expedition Tyranitar is too weak to tyrogue... And, I think our team knows what we're playing, something rogue like last year, but will win like last year oh ya, um.... add a 2nd Unown D's to both decks, they can be killed easily....

I would go straight Dis TTar. Maybe toss in 1 Aq TTar. He is fun in a TTar deck. Also, DO add a 2nd Unown D to both decks...these are crucial! Both Decks could use Boost energy for a third turn hard hit while trying to set up on the bench. Very Important with TTar. Good Luck!!

Well I was going to hold this Deck for team play a secret but what the heck.
Player A's Deck
Pokemon 16 4 Scyther Promo 3 Scizor AQ. 3 Grimer AQ. 2 Muk AQ. 2 Tyrogue 2 Cleffa
Trainers 30 4 Elm 2 Copycat 3 Pokemon Trader 2 Bill's Maitnance 3 Bill 4 Gold Berry 4 Switch 2 Double Gust 1 Town Volunteers 4 Grass Cube 01 1 Metal Cube 01
Energy 14 10 Grass 4 Metal
Player B's Deck
Pokemon 18 4 Gastly 2ND 2LC 3 Dark Haunter 3 Dark Gengar 2 Misdreavos NR 2 Murkrow 2 Cleffa 2 Tyrogue
Trainers 26 4 Elm 4 Bill 2 Bill's Maitnance 2 Trader 3 Boss's Way 4 Gold Berry 2 Darkness Cube 1 Town Volunteers 4 Switch
Energy 16 12 Psychic 4 Darkness
The Strategy is to use Muk to Poison Pokemon and Burn them for mass damage while keeping them asleep with Dark Gengar. Scizor is there for lots of damage and it cant be Poisoned because we all know how popular poisoning is on this format. The Grass cube is awsome with these decks.
-------------------- Always play with a deck that looks good and u have fun playing, it just may win.
