So, those of you who have been busy opening those aquapolis boxes, what is the rarity of the Crystal Pokémon?

Oh hey someone beat me to a topic about Aquapolis. Well so far in 9 boxes i've pulled a complete set of Crystal Pokés in one box!, and another box gave 2 more and another a third so we've got 2 complete sets of Crystal from 9 boxes! We've yet to pull a Reverse Holo of a Crystal so i don't think they exist but could be wrong (hope i'm not as the RH mix has been fantastic).
Some other general thoughts: I think we've pulled a complete set of the special energy cards from each box! And the Trainers! Holy smokes! I don't think we've pulled a pack that had 2 uncommon Pokés, it's been 2 Trainers or 1 Trainer and 1 Pokémon! That is great for getting Town Volunteers, Forest Guardian, and the like for decks! (and trading). The set is tougher to put into binder in orders - the H1-H32 threw off putting cards into binders easily (i usually can put any card into the correct spot thanks to the "9 factor") but then you had the 4 A and B versions of cards which messed it up more...(plus putting RHs away is different that putting the regular set away because there are no RH versions of H1-H32.)
And playing the cards, yes the babies out right stink when compared to their originals (with the possible exception of Tyrogue and Smoochum), but some cards scream "Use me! Try me out!" (Nidoking, Victreebel, Vileplume quickly come to mind). Others are 0-o why do they do that? Very few have a free Retreat cost. And it seems like you either will need a deck with 30 energy cards in it or one with 10 depending upon the energy manipulation you choose to use.
Drafting this will be interesting.

What's the pack format for Aquapolis cards? Is it still the same as Expedition?

According to the checklist in the Theme Decks, the normal holos (H1-H32, and 149-151) don't have parallel reverse holos.
I haven't pulled a Crystal Poke yet after opening a sealed box and 20 single boosters.

One box for me. 2 Crystal pokes, along with every common, every uncommon, every energy, and no duplicates of rares or holos (if you don't count the reverse holos).

Got all three first two boxes. Dry for the next 2 boxes - last box I pulled three (2 nido, 1 Kingdra) As in Expedition - some of the uncommons are harder to get than the rares! My coolest thing - 4 reverse Darkness! The reverse holo looks different for this set and the reverse darkness is truly cool to behold. It almost gets solid metallic colors depending on the angle instead of a rainbow effect.

It sounds like the Crystals are't that hard to pull then. If I've counted correctly the posts so far have 34 Crystal Pokémons in 43 boxes i.e. 1Crystal/45.5 Boosters - There are 32+3 Holos in the set so...

We've only opened 2 boxes so far. In the first, we got the whole set of 3 Crystals. In the second box, we got 2 out of the 3, so that's 5 out of 2 boxes!

I'm also short MANY holos from the set, and I got 6 duplicate holos and a lot of duplicate rares :\
5 Town Volunteers, but several Jugglers and Forest Guardians.
Not the best 2 boxes I've opened...

Steve H1-H32 DO HAVE parallel reverse holos and non-holos of the cards in the aquapolis set. Out of the box I open I got one a couple of the Pokemon were there is a Holo, reverse holo, and just a plain normal rare.

G.L.Blaine - There aren't cards numbered H1 - H32 that exist as reverse holos, though it's true that the non-holo counter-parts exist as RH. For example, H1 Ampharos exists only as holo, while it's "twin" #1/147 Ampharos exists as non-holo and reverse holo.
I pulled 1 set of 'crystal' rares each in two boxes, none in a third, and one card in box#4. [ January 27, 2003, 03:42 PM: Message edited by: RainbowRichards ]

I pulled 9 Packs out of a box and got 16 rares, one of which was Crystal Lugia.
My friend pulled 10 out of the same box, and got Crystal Kingdra.
What I am really happy about is that I got the Muk, Scizor, Grass Exeggutor, Crystal Energy, and Boost Energy.

As the reports keep coming in it sounds like about one Crystal Pokémon per box, which is what you would expect if they were as rare as the other rares.
The rare cards that are not also found as holos are actually the second hardest to pull if you count holos+foils+normal versions of the same card as one card (if you play with the cards rather than collect them, then the ammount of shiny stuff on the cards doesn't matter).
Thus, in one box you will on average find:
1 Crystal Pokemon (3 cards in set)
11 other Rare Holos (32 cards in set) + 24 "normal" versions of Holos + 8 foil versions Sum: 43
12 Rare cards with no holo counterpart (16 cards in set) + 4 foil versions Sum: 16
72 Uncommons (48 cards in set) + 12 foil versions Sum: 84
168 Commons (51 cards in set) + 12 foil versions Sum: 180
Now, remember these are average numbers and with some sort of normal variation 95% of boxes will contain:
0-3 Crystals 38-48 Holos (and counterparts) 13-19 Rares (and counterparts) 80-90 Uncommons (and counterparts) 175-185 Commons (and counterparts) [ January 28, 2003, 05:55 AM: Message edited by: Planteon ]
