I'm not trying to be rude or anything but from what I can tell, pokemon is on the declining end while games like Magic and Star Wars seem to be looking up. Everyone tries to console each other saying that the game will come back and reach its former glory but everytime this game seems to take a further plunge. Let's face it, pokemon is fading away just because the fad-based people have moved on to Yu-gi-oh and other things. Now Yu-gi-oh is beginning to suffer the same problems as Pokemon started to suffer with over a year ago. Sheez! Something must be wrong if the license has been revoked from wizards! So what if Nintendo has taken this game over. Nobody within 50 miles of my place plays this game! How is Nintendo supposed to make things any better? That's why I've moved on to other games. Support has been dwindling! Why should I continue to play a game when it looks like it is dying? I thought about coming back into the game but you know what? I feel that it is pointless to continue to support and rekindle a lost cause. Now I'm not trying to bash pokemon, it just seems to me that the game is in very dire straits indeed with no way out. I simply see no way out for the game. So, any thoughts? [ March 22, 2003, 05:12 PM: Message edited by: Leeski ]

Well, Leeski I can tell you that you will probably receive some negative feedback on this topic.
Let me give you some facts here:
Pokemon is the #3 seller right now, #3, while not #1 is still indicitive of a strong seller, wouldn't you agree?
The last 3 sets of Pokemon have SOLD-OUT as it, Wizards has no more of them. Not a sign of a "dying" game.
The Delegate program has introduced HUNDREDS of new stores that are now currently active with the Pokemon Battlezone Program.
SuperBattlezone was recently held in 50 select markets nationwide, with many stores having very commendable attendance showings, my store here in Las Vegas, had 30 people and 6 of them were BRAND new to the game!
Nintendo has annouced plans for Organized Play, and with this, has hired a ex-employee of Dechiper, who is a very CLOSE second to WotC with regards to OP.
All of these are facts. While I am not trying to be-little your opinion, posts like these DO have a tendancy to be taken many different ways, especially from those people like myself, who are trying so hard to SUSTAIN this game's popularity.
Honestly, if you want the game to survive, DO something to help it along through these troubled times, participate in the Delegate Program to convince stores why they should have tournaments for this game.
Run and TO tournaments - This is another very enjoyable avenue that not only myself, but MANY others do as well.
Truthfully, Pokemon in Las Vegas, is still doing quite well, why? Because I put my heart and soul into keeping this game alive.
If you have found Pokemon to be a very enjoyable experience for you, then do something to promote it in your area, and chances are, once the word gets out, people will come!
Like I, and many others in your last post about the "Pokemon TCG", we have all stated our respective positions this games future, and this game's benefits, if you choose to get back into the game, we will welcome you back.
However, many of us, including myself, who as some people will tell you, have worked very hard for this game, not only in my area, but elsewhere, really don't apprecriate posts like these.
Thanks for understanding.

Skywolf1, people can take what I say anyway they want. I'm not trying to be rude but I want to speak the truth. And the truth hurts sometimes. Anyway, lets talk a little bit about what you said earlier

Pokemon first of all is the #3 best-seller because there are several million kids in America that look up and see the cards and say "Mommy, I want some Pokeman cards!"
Also, as for the Superbattlezone events, that's very commendable. However, since wizards has lost their license, I don't think we'll be seeing many of those in the near future. I'm more concerned about now not what happened months ago.
As for people complaining about the subject of this thread, people have the right to their own opinion. However, it seems to me this is the way the game is headed. Maybe this opinion is out of ignorance or sheer skepticism but that's the way I see it now.

Yeah, unfortunately, I don't own my own store nor do I know anybody who has a positive disposition towards the game. Everyone plays Magic and Yu-gi-oh here. It really ticks me off sometimes! I understand where you are coming from but I'm just not convinced that this game will last any longer especially when I see no proof around me (meaning other people playing around me in tournaments and stuff) that the game is going to last much longer.

Dude (or Dudette), you opened two topics with different titles but nearly identical opening remarks/questions. Just in case you don't hang out on these boards much, I want to tell you please don't take it personally if you get one locked. Its because it is SPAM to post twice on the same thing and not because of what you're trying to discuss. Keep up your discussion in one or the other, if that happens.

I hate to put it this way, but don't let the door hit you on the butt on the way out.
As the resident negative thinker here, I don't see a "dying" game. It's pretty bad when YGO is showing signs of decline after less than a year, it took three years for Pokemon to drop from its peak. YGO is a dying game. The base of Pokemon is stronger than the base of any game other than Magic, period. There are too many devoted followers of this game for it too die just because it will be shifting companies, no matter how much we hate the situation.
Hey, if you want to give up and play another game, more power to you, but we don't need the kind of garbage you are spewing here. This is no disagreement of how to make the playing environment better. I am used to getting into heated debates on how to do that. You are trying to drag everyone else down, and quite frankly, I don't appreciate it.
There is an old saying: Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Have you tried running a tourney? I see the "professor" tag below your name; part of being a professor is supposed to be working locally to help keep the game alive.
Talk one of the local stores that are running Magic or YGO now into giving you the table time for either a tourney or open play, publicize it, and see what happens! You might be surprised at the turnout of players who "thought the game was dead" becasue no one was running any OP; furthermore, if you read your professor emails and the forums, you'd have seen the posts/emails from MTM detailing exactly what was coming during the time Wizards STILL holds the license. Another round, if not two, of SBZs, to begin with...

First off - it's a common tactic to say something offensive and try to sweeten the smell by denying it in the same breath. You are being offensive, you are bashing Pokemon, and you know it. Stop being a coward and hiding behind denials. Second I'm always torn whether to just ignore folks like you (*plonk*) or give a piece of my mind. It should be obvious by now my decision. If you want to play - play. If not then leave us be.

Leeski: You've opened our eyes. We're all quiting tonight to play Star Wars!
Seriously, what are you trying to accomplish with these? This is (for now, anyway) the official Pokemon TCG message board. If you no longer play and don't want to do what others have done to get game play going, then move on and let those that still enjoy the game and still play it do their thing.
Locking for pointlessness. Please don't start a 3rd topic about how useless everything is. Your first one barely had a point. These followups have none.
