Hello,
I thought about this a while ago. True, that winning an SBZ is a nice accomplishment and all. But did you honestly feel that it was a win or triumph you could really relish? I think that the ideal Finals match should consist of a very great game ending in mutual respect afterwards. And although I didn't win against Chris Fulop in our Final Match I had a hell of a time and so did he. How meaningful was your win? Did you deserve it or did you blow out someone? The point is NOT that if you did I'm saying "you're a terrible player" or anything like that. When you won, is it a win that you can personally be proud of? How rough were your opponents all day? Stuff like that.
Thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

Actually, although i didnt win, i got # four.. but wow was the next to last battle i played hard... I was using Donphan deck, my opponent was using Crobat. I dont know how i pulled it off, but EVERY move counted there. It all came down to a Warp Energy I had teched at the last minute just in case (gut instinct) My opponent rolled heads on a mean look on cleffa, and cried triumphantly. I drew my last card, and i already had warp energy in my hand. I attached the warp energy and sent out Donphan, with one final rapid spin to draw my last prize. He took warp energy in disbelief. Reading it. This was one of my most accomplishing victories. It as a great battle, and we all had a great time. The very last game of the SBZ came down to a Dark Tyranitar deck and a Steelix/ AQ Blastoise deck. It 'came down' to a coin flip. It was a very interesting game, we all had great fun.

I didnt win either, but i got 5/40 in the Porstmouth VA SBZ. in my final match, i had a kingdra fully evolved and my opponent had a macargo. I had like 5 turns in a row where i could have won if i had an energy and used genetic memory. 6 turns in a row, i drew Pokemon.
Oh well, i still had fun.
6 packs for $5 aint bad either

Here's what my T8 consisted of...
T8 Game VS. John Silvestro with Exp. T-tar:
I played him in swiss as well, extremely close game but I ended up coming out on top. I noticed that when we were setting up he only had one basic, and I was going first. We flipped our cards over, and he has a lone Cleffa. I had a somewhat bad hand besides a Copycat. I Copycat getting Slugma, Entei, Tyrogue, Energy and some other stuff. I thought about it for a second and then went for the easy Tyrogue win. Heads/Heads. The ONLY reason I did it, is because I know for a fact he has the capability to beat me (He has plenty times before). We're good friends so he didn't get too angry (Atleast not as angry when he got 17 Tails in a row during one of his swiss matches, yes 17!). In the end, he signed my game winning Tyrogue.
T4 Game VS. Stephen Silvestro (Worlds T4 & STS Champ) with Exp. T-tar:
We had also previously met in the swiss matches. We ID'd in the last round of swiss to gurantee our T8 placings. This game I started off with a lone Cleffa. He goes first and has a bad hand. He then Elms and gets a Tyrogue. "I'm doing it for my dad". I just laughed after that. Heads/Tails. Phew. The game went back and forth with me winning. It was a great game versus an excellent player that has achieved alot.
He then played the other 14- that lost in T4 for the Junior Championship Trophy. Stephen defeated him and took home the trophy.
Finals VS. Matt with Donphan/Babies:
(We were playing for the Senior Championship Trophy as well)
Yeah, I had also faced Matt in the previous swiss rounds. During that game he couldn't draw any energy. The same thing happened this game with me completing an easy victory. He's a really good player, he just needs some more draw cards (Or better topdecking ;x).
Even though my only tough single elimination game was during T4, winning the Trophy as well as the whole tournament meant alot to me. I haven't been as active in Pokemon since Origins of last year. This event really brought the fun back into the game for me. [ February 17, 2003, 10:41 AM: Message edited by: SomeGuy ]

Well, at our SBZ I was the15+ player in T2 and DYlan Austin the 14-player. The game was just for packs and we knew this. He was playing Feralisect, i was playing E gatr with metal. The game went back and forth neither one of us had more than a 1 prize lead the entire game, when the game came down to 2-2 we went to a bit of a standstill with me drawing the next prize, then him drawing a prize the next turn. We were at 1-1 when he counted the water in his discard retreated his active feraligatr, evolved a benched croconaw and did 120 to knock out my active Gatr. Overall it was the BEST game i have ever played, and me and dylan were already good friends so us being in T2 made it all the better.

The event reminded me of just how much fun big tournaments can be . Now if we can just get a Gym and Stadium Challenge schedule i can get some payback See you in 2 weeks my friend and again congrats!

Crobat2 (age 11):
Yes, I thought that most of my opponents were pretty good. A win is win. The trophy is great. It is the first trophy that I have ever gotten. My win was as exciting as when I won the Gym Challenge at Milford or the side event at Origins. The person that I beat in the finals had beaten me earlier in the tournament and I was just glad to be able to beat him for the trophy.
