Freddy K,

no news on the date for UK GenCon yet, Lee slipped down to our last League session unannounced and really didn't add much more detail.

Date is firm for the 7th April now, looks like we will probably not have our 4th Weekly Tourney in april so we can slip into London.

see you soon and best wishes with ya cleffa [Wink]

Hi,

Some informations ...

The format for the European Prof events is not decided yet (MTM in yesterday's chat).
The format for the Challenges is not decided yet (standard or modified). I will talk about it with WotC Europe, but I'd like to know if you play modified in your countries (Belgium don't).

UK friends ... we'll be in Rainham for the Challenge. Just waiting for 2 informations from WotC UK (confirmation of the date and of that the prize is a trip to the Worlds).

Thanks for calling the Schosse-Delhausse 'Modified experts' [Angel]
But we have already been beaten, and it will happen again ... [Razz]

I'm very interested in the GenCon. So any information (date, ...) is welcome.

Pokemon a kid's game ??? I have the same reactions in Belgium, but if you explain a little bit of the game, people change their opinion.
I think it's very important that WotC, and ourselves, make an effort on the communication. Pkmn becomes more and more difficult, it's a strategy game like Magic or any other game. In addition to that, we enter now in 'real Organized play'.
Telling the people what we do, what kind of game we play, the strategy and difficulty of the game, ... will certainly bring new players to our community.
There will always people to laugh at us ... it's easier to laugh than to listen and try to understand [Wink]

Maybe one can Pokémon Breeder Cleffas after all, eh?

[Blush]

Thanks for the congratulations, guys. Marion is doing well thankfully, and the new arrival is expected in late July (SuPsy - that's why she can't attend Amsterdam in June...).

For reference, Amsterdam prices I got for departure on 8/7/02 and return 10/7/02 was around Ł60. These prices will be lower I expect for under 18's. As for my hotel, that isn't booked yet - Michel, are you fully arranged on that side? Are the Schosse family preparing their travel plans too?

Michel - I'll keep you posted about GenConUK2002 but be aware that Team Rocket may be out to thwart your plans of attending to increase my chances of winning [Wink] Look what they did in Paris at last year's STSQ when in my favour they convinced the judges not to count Rainbow Enegy as Darkness...

FreddyK,

I don't know about the Schosse family, but we'll be in Amsterdam.

We'll go there by car and we haven't booked the hotel yet.

I work at Medecins sans Frontieres, and we have an office in A'dam. What I can do is to ask them the list of the hotels they work with. I know these horels are OK and not too expensive.
The question is : where will it be in A'dam ?
I think it's easier to have the hotel not to far from the venue of the tournament.

I'll ask the Schosse what they're going to do. They come to the tournament I organize tomorrow.

We'll be in Rainham on April 7 too [Angel]

Contact WotC-UK through [email protected]

We have a league set up in West London (Slough), there is one active in Crawley and also in Rainham, Kent.

Of course it doesn't help if WotC are still having difficulties maintaining their website updated, there seem to be an awful lot of broken links and out-of-date material on their international (i.e. outside the US) website.

Please post WotC-UK's response to you, it'll be of great help.

The rest of you - let's keep things on topic - shameful plugs can be placed in the section of 'Tournament Play'. You know what I mean.

And welcome to the boards, Rocket Butch [Smile]

I just sent this email:

Hello,
I am a fan of the pokemon TCG of which your produce, also i live in England. I recently got back into the TCG after not playing for nearly 2 years. Now im back on the scene i visited your offical europe website looking for a league to join. To my dissapointment i could not find a list of leagues in the uk. On the wizards message boards a group of european pokemon fans advised me to right an email to this address for help about finding/starting a league. If it is possible, could you please send me a list of active leagues or information about starting my own league.I am very keen to meet and play with pokemon fans, i only know 2 people who still enjoy pokemon which dissapoints me.
Thank You,
John O' Malley

PS-Freddy can you give me some more information about the slough league? I dont live far from slough so it'd be easy to get there.
Thanxs

Hi there Rk.Butch -

I gotta live by my own rules [Embarrassed] but email me on [email protected] and I'll send you details. We have a session every Sunday and you're more than welcome to join.

Good to see you back in the game again. Perhaps the two people you know can come along too. We have a thriving league, with around 8 constant players and others coming in and out with the various exams that they have. We have though two adult players and quite a few over, as well as under the age of 15. all in all, there's a challenge for all who come along.

Email me and I hope to see you soon.

Send it off to WotC-Italy and if they don't respond, inform the Prof Program through [email protected], and tell them Italy didn't do so.

You have to do this as you are outside the US and under 18. Placing details of minors is something WotC can be prosecuted for.

In any case, don't panic - at the European Prof Events you'll be able to take the test there if all else fails. Perhaps that's what you should do if the issue isn't resolved by then.

I'm not beaten at all [Angel]

The information I've had from WotC Europe last Thursday was : Gym Challenge in Belgium on April 20, date to be confirmed.

As far as I know, neither the date nor the venue are confirmed.
Antwerp seems OK as it was the city Harlan and myself had talked about ... in January [Wink]

I'm still waiting for a confirmation from WotC Europe.

Gengar094 ... the winners in Antwerp are from Netherlands ??? I'm not surprised, the best Belgian players were in Aalst today (Schosse's players, Laetitia Delhausse player and myself TO).

I really wonder why Bart always organize his tournament when there is an other tournament already on the DCI website (Destelbergen or Aalst) [Evil Smirk]
The planning of the tournaments in Belgium will be one of the subjects of the Gym leaders and TO meeting with Wizards in March.
Three tournaments are run in our country every month on Sunday. There are 4 Sundays in a month ... and two tournaments are run on the same Sunday ! IMO, it's really stupid !

So, if you want official information, ... Gym Challenge in Belgium in April, venue, date and format to be confirmed [Wink]

I finally have some info for Italy...

We have 4 Gym Challenges here [Eek!] :
- One, already held, in Naples (Feb 17th)
- One in Milan (March 24th)
- One in Turin (date unknown)
- One at the National Tournament in Ravenna during summer.

All of these qualify the winner for both Worlds and Nationals (except the last one, of course). As of now, none of these tournaments have Professor support and/or side events for them (15+ still banned [Frown] ).

It's really a shame about how Wizards Italy do so much strange stuff. No 15+, illegal "National Championship"...why are they doing this? I hope you can get the chance to play in some other tournament, outside Italy, where there'll be a Professor Event.
