Hello again Team Europe and players and supporters of the Pokemon Trading Card Game in the United Kingdom.

As I have stated in my numerous e-mails to the players and/or supporters of the Pokemon TCG in the European region, I have heard your concerns, and I am feverishly working to correct the situation that faces players of the Pokemon Trading Card Game in the European region, and especially in the United Kingdom.

Given the fact that it is 2am here right now, I was hoping that I could contact Mr. Singleton directly, and express to him the issues and concerns that Pokemon Players in the United Kingdom have expressed to me. I am very PLEASED to say, that my attempts to contact Mr. Singleton were SUCCESSFUL, and we spoke via telephone for over 15 minutes. A "summerized" transcript follows of our phone conversation. Please forgive me if I have missed some specific points, but I believe the "salient" points came accross.

Q1: Mr. Singleton, there are many players/professors that want to assist WotC UK with Pokemon in that country, what more can they do, in order to accomplish this?

Answer: The Players and Professors who run leagues are doing a wonderful job with promoting Pokemon so far, and I am trying to improve the communication problems between WotC/Hasbro UK and the players. Right now, the best things that Professors/Players can do to support the game, is to keep running leagues.

Q2: Mr. Singleton, many players in the United Kingdom have stated that Pokemon Expedition is not yet available in the United Kingdom, can you give me a status on this please?

Answer: Well, Pokemon is available in the United Kingdom right now, and has been a "good seller" so far. There have been some difficulties with some individual shops being able to stock the product however.

I ask again, "So Expedition IS available in the UK?"

His response is "Yes."

Question 3: "What is the status of Pokemon Battlezone in the UK?"

Answer: We are HOPING by early next year, to be in sync with the USA in regards to the Pokemon Battlezone program.

Question 4: Do you have an e-mail address if I wanted to contact you with any future questions?

Answer: Yes I do. It is [email protected]

That was the gist of our conversation, Mr. Lee seems like a very pleasent gentleman to speak with as he did not give me the impression that he wanted to get me off the phone. He does apprecriate the work that the Professors are doing in the UK, and is TRYING to improve communication between the players/professors and WotC/Hasbro UK.

Additionally, it should be noted that the phone number that I received is different than that of the one listed on the WotC boxes. For those of you that don't have it, let me post it here.

I am assuming that this is the Main Office for HASBRO in the UK, as when I had called the: 08457 12 55 99, I was told that Mr. Singleton is at the "Main Office". That number is: (In the UK) 02 08 569 1234.

I hope that I was able to shed some light for all of you players/professors in the UK, and if you have any additional questions or concerns, I will be sure to bring them to his attention directly.

Keep UP the GREAT work Team Europe and ESPECIALLY all you Professors in the UK, together we WILL revive this game.

Take Care,

Skywolf1 (who is now going back to bed. [Smile] )

Thanks again Marsh for your help and concern, however..

This is the very same thing he told us about the league in April and guess what .. we are even further out of sync than ever..

And it doesn't sit with the phone conversation I just had with a Master Professor who said..

quote:
..and Lee tells me we are definitely getting BattleZone in January 2003..
Add to that the promise to me last week that promo's and badges were being dispatched and his conversation with another Master Professor that..

Badges and promos will be dispatched THIS WEEK within the next few days..
So last week, now this week.. we want to actually see the stuff that's how you get people to trust you. And as for

quote:
I am trying to improve the communication problems between WotC/Hasbro UK and the players
Note that he says players not Professors, for us he could improve communication overnight by returning calls and answering emails.

I am trying this time not to get my hopes up and not believe that we will get anything.. after all that has been our experience in the past.. like I say trust has to be earned not just spoken about.

So I am gonna call him now cos he is obviously in!

Gosh, how does he expect us to do this after so long, and still even now, without promos, stamp books, cards, posters, promotion of our national tournaments and information on card and chain stores that are stocking Pokémon:Expedition locally and nationally?

It's a shame that itch doesn't spread high to goad him into action while he scrathes his derriere we get nothing.

Still the calls are coming in from Freddys article in Pokemon World we will have a great day on the 15th December.

Everyone who plays gets a free go at the lucky dip and there are some good cards in there... and don't forget a trainer A and B deck is up for grabs too.

Dear Pokémon League Organiser,

I am sure you are all aware that there has been a distinct lack of new Pokémon materials available from Wizards for quite some time. On behalf of the company I would like to start by apologising for this and let you know that monthly kits will now be regularly sent to you as from the New Year.

Due to both budget and staff cuts within the UK Office it has been decided not to pursue Year 3 Pokémon materials in this market place. Instead we will be aligning with the US schedule. This means that we will be introducing Pokémon League Year 4: Battlezone into the UK at the same time that it appears in the US market place.

We will also be giving out Year 3 promo cards to league organisers to use as prize cards every week. This is to ensure that the UK players will not miss out as a result of the program realignment. These cards will be provided at the rate of 2 cards a week due to the limited amount that we have managed to acquire within the UK. (The prize cards will change every month until the supply has run out)

To tide everyone over until the new Battlezone kits arrive I have sent out the following kits to help you support the Pokémon players in your area. There will be a new kit sent out in December to help you in the final month. Inside this kit you will find the following:

Participation Prize 1

40 Plains Badges
50 Fog Badges
40 Mineral Badges
40 Zephyr Badges
50 Storm Badges
50 Glacier Badges
100 Rising Badges

Participation Prize 2

50 Flying Pikachu
50 Cleffa
50 Dark Persion
50 Dark Gyardos

Weekly Prizes

2 Lily Pad Mew (Promo 47)
2 Scyther
2 Fighting Energy (Foil)
2 Lightning Energy (Foil)

The participation prizes are for everyone that turns up at your league. They should be able to receive a different promo card each week. The weekly prizes are for the best two players each week.

Thank you for your time understanding and your patience in this matter

Lee Singleton
DCI Manager UK & Ireland

It came this morning [Smile]

There are no Lilly Pad Mews in it [Frown]

That's probably the most useful of the promo's given ...

Still it came Marsh, CANCEL the NUKES

There is hope after all.. now will we have to do this all again next month and will we have to do this to get BattleZone?

When I visited Lee in person way back in June or so he had a whole stack of Magmar promos as well as Machamps.

My question then is this - what has happened to those promos?

This question must be answered.

Hello Team UK:

I am very glad to hear that MOST of you received your league materials. However, I am still quite upset that the Slough league, has not received their materials as of yet.

So, until EVERYTHING gets delivered as promised, I will still work on getting getting ALL leagues in the UK the league materials as they have been promised.

Well Sauron, let's just see now.. promised this stuff back in April, told that the year 1 and 2 stuff we are now getting was sent back to the states and now I haven't enough new promo's to give to the guys and gals at my league.

Thank God for ebay.co.uk where all these promos are freely available.. shame they aren't in the UK office..

It does seem very strange that this is happening.. Freddy has no Kit, I get one with 2 address labels on it and missing cards.. all of us get promos we were told didn't exist in the UK.. now it's nice to have them but it would have been even nicer to have them on time.

Big Guns we haven't even started, thanks to Freddy K I have had 3 calls about the SE challenge on the 15th December, thanks to Lee I have had none! Why ...

Well Freddy went and did something and Lee failed to send out the flyers I sent him.

I have even had people calling to ask about leagues in their area .. why because WotC UK can't get that right either.

Oh Sauron if only you truely knew how frustrating it is trying to get anything done over here.

Okay here is the latest from the UK.

Today at around 13-00hrs Lee rang me! This is a real first and a breakthrough, Lee rang me.

Now he asked if we got the Promo's he had sent out and he asked about what was missing and has agreed to send us a list of the Year 3 Promo's he has so that we can at least deal with any shortfalls.

It seems that Lee is really trying to change our relations with him and bless my trusting soul.. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope you all will too.

He has read all the posts on this board and has been moved to both act and contact us.

I feel this is a real opportunity for us to build a better relationship with Lee and WotC UK.

It still means that Lee has to deliver and keep delivering. But he has made a gesture of faith and trust and I ask that we return it.

At least until he breaks that trust.

Lee is posting more of the UK GenCon 2002 results but due to hard drive failure he is still trying to recover some of the 11-14 results.

Watch the DCI site for them.

December 15th gives us all a chance to show what the Master Professors and Pokemon in the UK can do... with Lee's help and support we can move forward, without it we struggle.

Last Sunday I hosted yet another session of league. Our league is quite bewildered by the fact that we seem to be ignored but we had two players who'd returned to play from an extended absence and who said they'd come next week - a father and his young son.

I used my own prizes, two rectangular-cut Neo Discovery holofoil cards, for a Team Multiplay tournament we ran. I didn't bother filling in any forms, I just ran the thing and put my own prizes up.

Players are asking me if I'll be bringing in my own boosters of Pokémon Expedition to sell on at league like I did for Legendary Collection. I can't explain to them that I myself cannot get ahold of the boxes at all in Slough - I undercut myself and sell them for zero profit to allow the kids to get ahold of them when they want them. Last time I sold packs of Legendary for a Ł1, they were so many people who wanted the cards I'd run out and was using up packs that I'd earned from GenConUK.

We haven't got any promos. The last promos we got were the same you received in the summer, and that was when I picked them up myself.

I've had emails, phone calls, everything else ignored by Lee Singleton. Near enough a total lack of consideration.

I have also now started to write TCG articles for a magazine that sells internationally. GenConUK was reported on, plus the latest sets of the TCG game.

Still no reply. Nothing. No promos, no league support, nothing.

So i'm afraid it's still a struggle with Slough's Pokémon League. For two years running we've sent the UK's players to the World Championships (Irwin was playing in Slough's league at the time).

This is life at the customer end of Pokémon TCG in the UK - no support, no sympathy, no promises fulfilled.

[Frown] [Frown] [Frown]

Business as per usual I think until we see parity across the UK with league support.

Well so far this week I have had two telephone conversations with Lee and he genuinely seems like he wants to change things.

He is stretched and weary at the moment and our response to his overtures of peace is important. I spoke to him about Freddy's kit and asked him if he had sent it to the correct address and Lee tells me he asked for it to be sent there.

Now given that we all seem to have got packages (except Freddy) with each others and our own address on them.. I had Mitchem League on it, Ian had My Address... perhaps a mix up at the warehouse has meant Freddy's package has gone missing??
