A few guys on one of the Pokemon Trading Cards On-line boards claim that they have this card and even offer for trade. I didn't hear that any of the trades happened, but it would be nice to know whether someone should waste his/her time on these trades, or not. It would be also nice to know if money is involved whether someone could expect a genuine card or a fake one. It is fantastic to keep the legend alive for almost 6 years, but can someone without guessing and assuming put en end to it? Do we want to? I guess someone who may be ripped off during the trade/buy would appreciate it. I know that since DMTM offered on the borad any cards for it and did not get any response may be enough for conclusion, but again do all visit the post?

Let's put it this way: Their card is fake.
Unless that can give an attribution of exactly from who and how they got it.

The rumor is that there are literally a handful of these cards in existance and that only WotC employees have them in their posession and won't give them up.

Gee, that sounds like the Nine Rings, doesn't it.
Good analogy, though.
You are as likely to find a PreRelease Raichu up for trade by a kid on a board as you are to find the One Ring in the possession of an insignificant Hobbit.

....wait, let me rephrase that last bit...

what was that card that was released by wizards to the public with a mistake and a recall was issued on it. I heard there are like, only 12 left in public hands.

Prerelease Raichu does exist, but we don't know WHO owns them. Along with the error Dark Dragonite, it is the rarest card in the world. We could use a 1996 World Champion for Pokemon =P

Dark Persian promo was almost released to the public but was recalled before it got distributed in Nintendo magazine. That's why it was released a month or two late.

Someone must have gotten ahold of some copies from the printer or something, though, because a lot were sold on eBay.
Don't see them for sale anymore, but they sold enough of them, close enough together, to depress the price on them.

"It's the rearest card in the world." That reminds me of E-Bay card descriptions. For example you can find right now that only 4 sets of Pokemon Sample cards were made. It doesn't matter that you can buy them for the 6th time on-line, if you know what I mean. Only WOTC can comment I guess.

Many more Dark Persian's and Error Dragonite's then Prerelease Riachu's. That is all I guess I'm prepared to say.

Be very careful if someone claims to own a Prerelease Riachu. They would need some sort of way to confirm it. It is VERY rare.

So true Juan. It is the "Catch-22" of the Pokémon world.

I think I have seen it many times but I don't even believe it really exists.

Just to set the record straight I'm not offering anything for one. I already don't have one so why would I not need it? [Dubious]

Well, DMTM it was in your Need list, and your Have list indicated that everything is available, so... Maybe it was only market scan. Thank you very much for your first reply.

Talking about extremely rare cards, should we add Movie Mewtwo Promo with the upside-down WB stamp as another web site indicates?

NP. The Riachu was a Joke. I knew I would not get any responses for it on my "need" list.

I would have been very surprised if I did! [Eek!]

well a prerelease riachu would be fake, but a prerelease rAichu could be real, and if theres none, then a well respected person on these boards would have lied to me in person, and I doubt that.

I was at this heavy rock concert and the lead singer came out and asked "how many of you feel like human beings?" then he asked "Now how many of you feel like animals!?" and everyone cheered. I didn't know there was a second part to the question, so I applauded for the 1st part. "Yes I do feel like a human, I do not feel like a tree."

That's just a thing about Prerelease Raichu. It's even rarer than a tobacco Honus Wagner card, so either the person/people owning it/them is undisclosed, wants no one to know of it, or some newbie who mutilated it years back. So rare, it's only considered a myth by lots of people. Perhaps a proper promo choice to give out at a SBZ WOULD include an intentional release of prerelease raichu? [Big Grin]

It does exist people. It is just not likely that someone has it for trade. Just make sure they can prove it somehow.
