VERY positive!
I just hope there is one near Portsmouth. Heck, I wish there were one IN Portsmouth. I know I could find a volunteer or four.

I dunno, maybe I'm just jumping the gun here, but where're the SC/STS-like things? I mean, are the super battlezone thingies like, qualifiers for a Super Omega Prime Zone Palace of Pokemon event? I like the big events because they're, uhm, big. Meh, the details haven't been finalized, can't wait for this stuff again. ~TRC

The scales have been tipped in our favor. "Our" being 15+ players. Good times? We'll see....
Though as I don't have a Battle Zone location 'round these parts, I'll have to sit patiently for Challenge Series info. Still though, this sounds much better than worse.

I'm assuming that Pokemon Battlezone Locations with Pokemon Professor Delegates will be the only ones holding Super BattleZone. The article said "50 premier locations". So in order to make it premier, you'd have to have a qualified organizer... not some retail clerk who uses the disposable camera as a Valentines Gift to their loved one. -Phil

First 50 players it said. Does that mean there is 50 players per division or just 25?
I also wonder if Professors are going to need to jump into action as well.

Considering that Professors are encouraged to be involved in the BattleZone process (Delegates, TO, HJ, etc), I can't see how Professors can not be involved.
If I remember correctly (past chats/Prof mailings), BZ/past League attendance is going to determine what locations are getting Super BZs. Add to that during the last chat where Premier TOs will be running these events.

I like it. All we heard was good things for this games future, and it seems like they have delivered.
The trophy is a good way to get some interest sparked back up.
Things are definitley looking better.

I have but 1 problem with the above, and it's in the last line, "Premier TOs will be running these events." I'm not real sure that there are 50 different Premier TO's in the US. There might be but I don't think so. I know when the QT's & GC's around here were held they were by the same guy. I think it's going to take some non-premiere TO's, with experience at holding events, that will be called upon the do this. Like I said the 1 around here runs them in Kansas, Texas & Okla & he certainly can't hold 1 in each state at the same time assuming each state gets 1, that is. Of course I know that the TO doesn't have to be physically present at his event but it is good policy to be there.

This is definitely great news. With 50 locations it appears they will be pretty easily accessible no matter where you live. A good start to a bright future, awesome! [ December 24, 2002, 07:16 AM: Message edited by: Lacy ]

Hmm, this sounds great. But im not sure about one thing, it states 15+, would that be limited to professors only, or EVERYONE that is older than 15? If it is open to all 15+, that might spark alot more interest into the older playrs that just cant seem to pass the test(or take it for that matter).

Hmmm, I think that agreement you delegates (master professors) signed up to was similar to the requirements of Primere TOs. I do not think this event will be run by Primere Tournament Organizers because they will be held at previous BattleZone retail stores.
The reasoning behind why delegates would only run these events is due to the fact that some chain stores do not know how to organize an event like this. Even if they have a large attendance, I doubt that they will become Super BattleZone locations... -Phil

Ohhhhh! I know what this sounds like. It's like State Championships in Magic. Every state has one, but it doesn't feed into any major tournaments. At least it's something for 15+

Let's see. There will be at least 2 requirements for a location to hold Super BattleZone:
1. Must be run by a Premier TO. 2. Must be a location with good BZ/league attendance. (Good reason to submit BZ/league reports.)
We'll just have to wait and see if this holds up, or WOTC just picks major population centers. (Remember when WOTC choose Chicago as the "Central" SC last year? )
I'm hoping the Super BZs are geographically distributed. Each state having one Super BZ isn't feasible (CA and TX need more, as well as other states). So I DON'T expect Super BZ to be State Championships, but more like Territorial Championships.

People were clamoring for that location. If people lobbied for elsewhere, it might happen. Of course, the "metro areas model" seems pretty similar to how Pokemon 4Ever was spread out.

The "Premier" term is also used to identify certain retail locations as being 'Premier Stores'. So it could be that some of the larger retail Premier locations' TO's are being referenced, not just the "Premeier Event" TO's (GC's, ST's, etc.)
