Those rulebooks are made months almost a year in advance when they have to be printed. We must put our best guess in them. You also seem to forget that we were late last year!
By this logic strain we were planning the same thing last year! Yet here we are. Do you see how foolish this is?

For ebartemis410.You have missed the point of my post completely. I'll try to simplify. Support you leagues and league stores. BTW. I am not some "boy". I put in on average 20 hours a week to run leagues and tournements. I am also one of the TO's for Magic. I do know what I'm talking about.

"I really don't think WotC would want to "get rid" of a game that makes money for them. It just doesn't make sense. I firmly believe if they CAN keep the license they WILL." - Lacy
I'm happy to say I'm NOT taking a side on this issue! *Crowd cheers*
I see the side Ness and Lugia909 are taking (did I just mention those two on the same side...?), but I see the other one too. I think both are slightly extreme...
What Lacy said struck me. How can you firmly believe in a company? Especially a company we "firmly" believed in back when we started, and now look where we are at. Pokemon is a great game... but some decisions, including the elimination of the 15+, hurt it. =\
Anyway... I don't believe there's a conspiracy -_-... but I don't blindly follow a company's decisions either.
And something I'd like to add. We ARE the consumers. I've seen people say we have no influence... and that's not true. Whether we buy or not is whether Pokemon dies or not. Regardless, it will continue for quite awhile...
DMTM makes great points though. Why in the WORLD would they spend such time on this just to give it up? =\

DMTM, your statements merely support my complaint that WOTC is one of those adhoc companies out there who are either unable or unwilling to do proper project planning and scheduling. Or maybe you DO have good project managers, but don't have the guts to release information because the project managers want to be able to change plans and schedules anytime they wish.
FYI, since LOTR first came out last year, I've known the release dates for the next eight expansions for the next 2 years. Now, can WOTC say that about Magic or any other game that they have complete control of? Schedule slippages (and fear to release schedules because of possible slippages) are usually the result of adhoc project management.
DMTM, don't take me wrong. I'm not blaming you for schedule slippages. But I agree with many others that WOTC divulges way too little information (or they divulge it in a cryptic manner).

Query, what exactly do you mean by that? I don't play or collect LOTR, even though I do enjoy Tolkien. Do you mean its already had 8 expansions that came out on time, that what they have released of those 8 have been on time, or something else? If its the middle option, shouldn't you wait until all 8 have been successfully released on time? It is not impossible that they might not all ship on time. Just an observation.

Otaku, he's referring to future 8 sets.
And he does have a point... although I can stand understandably. But seriously... non-Internet people really don't know when the next set is going to come out. =\

Why gripe about release dates? If a release date is pushed back, chances are they're trying to improve it. (My experience as being a Nintendo video game fan)

I just have to disagree here about poor planning and project management. You need to understand that it's hard to plan anything long term for a game that you do not own!
Every year WotC have to renew the license so for a start you can only really plan for a year ahead.. then when as we have seen in Europe the Boys and Gals at TPC and Nintendo can pull your plans apart by telling you what you can and cannot do.
Add in economic uncertainty and cost cutting, combine that with a fractious player base and NDAs and we get ... Just what DMTM told us to prepare for.
Heck we may even talk ourselves and WotC out of a game here.
It took me 3 yrs to really understand just what a strangle hold TPC and Nintendo have over WotC and what they can and cannot do with Pokemon.
UK GenCon 2002 was my revelation .. isn't it about time we all saw the light

well. i am. unlike u guru. ^_^ i don't think TPC will give the license 2 ne1 else(if some1 said this already sorry. i didn't read page 2). who has done a better job then wotc @ making card games? look @ magic. top selling game. 10 yrs out. i think. then star wars is growing(i think). and pkm well it's dying. @ least on hawaii. (BTW it'd be nice for a QT here DMTM) TPC wouldn't give it 2 another company.

Looks like most of you were prepared. I'm really sorry that we had to go through this. I feel like it has not really accomplished anything productive. Not being able to say anything has been difficult for me.
I hope some of you can understand that things are very complicated and many things that might appear one way are simply not.
Planning for things in a large company takes a lot of time. There are many factor that make for delays. Sometimes even things have to be done much faster which causes other problems. Issues are not as clear cut as some would want to believe.
I would like to point out a few things.
The information going out on Battle Zone predates this.
The decision to get product into Europe also predates this.
Also as I have said before the Rulebook is printed way in advance of the Challenge series. It is when we would like to start in a best case scenario. That is what we always hope for.
It was late last year was it not?
Might be the same this year....but in any case unless my calander is wrong it is October 15th today...a little early to point to it as a "sign" of anything.
Your loyal Dark servant.

"Again 400+ players, dropping again to 86 players at Worlds.", Perhaps that could be because it was invite only . Don't worry Dark Master, I think more people(including me) are with you then against you, and I(along with I hope alot of other people) understand your' possition. People, I think it's about time we thank WotC for doing everything they could to keep 15+ involved, when TPC tryed to elimanate 15+ altogether. Thanks Wizards.

THAT SICKENS ME!
Dude, seriously...do you KNOW that TPC tried to eliminate the 15+ ??
Maybe it was WotC who tried to eliminate the group cuz of financial reasons...

Did you happen to miss the logic train? Why would any company try to get rid of there #1 buying audience for financial reasons? Besides, TPC is based in Japan, from what I've heard, in Japan 15 is about the age that people are expected to start providing for themselves(and aren't suppossed to have time for games), and last but not least, this is no 15+ allowed in Major tourneys in Japan(to the best of my knowledge), I just put it all together, in Japan there's no 15+(it was TPC who did that, since WotC, I believe, has no juristiction over there), and 15+ was nearly elimanated here in America(I wonder who could be the colpret, considering that TPC got rid of 15+ in Japan, and TPC still owns the game).

Mmm, I am reluctant to just blame the TPC for the 15+ debacle it does seem that there is a lobby in WotC/Hasbro that is anti Pokemon and anti 15+.
That said the MT's are fighting our corner and we do have a habit of stirring things up at the wrongtime.
I come back to NoPokes point in one of the posts it is the silence we can't take tell us what you can and tell us what you can't just don't tell us nothing
