This card has too many 'tails fails' clauses to make it great. It's just average. I doubt it will replace Genesis Steelix in most players' decks until/unless Genesis rotates out.

Still, not a bad card...

Okay, I have a lil rule that EVERY steelix is a good card (yes, even cruddy shining steelix). Don't like it?! TOUGH!

Seriously, the card is decent. I'll compare Genesis to Aquapolis:
similar hp

exact same retreat/weakness/resistance.

1st attack of Genesis deals solid 20 to active, while Aquapolis does 10 to everything your opponent has.

2nd attack of genesis is weaker (average) by 5 damage, but for a whole energy's difference.

In short, Gen Steelix is still king, but a year or two from now, we'll see a lot more of aquapolis steelix [Smile]

I like the new Steelix-it has some tactical implicagtions rarely seen in the metal-types. Could hurt like heck in limited if you can get one (even without Metal).

But remember, with 4 Dodrios on the bench, you can retreat Steelix for free, send out a baby and get back to Steelix. This way you can get around the "can't attack next turn" effect. Not bad, is it?

But seriously, I like it. I'm glad they kept the Grass resistance, and didn't drop it, like Scizor's.

Ten damage to each benched without a flip is really nice, even if you have the chance of not being able to use it the next turn you still dont have to flip for the damage [Smile]

The second attack is alright, doing 50 is alright and then you have the possibility of doing 70, which adds to 120 -A KO of most pokemon ^_^

But dont forget that you may end up with no damage [Razz]

Can also combo with the new Scizor as it wont need strength charm allways [Big Grin]

Edit: Just saw your post Golduck, you dont need to retreat for babies as Dodrio or whoever you send out has 0 retreat too [Wink]

No... the attack either does 0, 50 or 70, where you got the idea that it would do 120..

The attack says:
(M)(M)(C)(C)Iron Crush
Flip 2 coins. If both are heads, this attack does 50 plus 20 more damage. If both are tails, this attack does nothing. If 1 is head and one is tails, this attack just does 50 damage. 50

Why not just use Warp Energy and Aquapolis Espeon to keep switching Steelix out every turn in order to use the first attack.

Or why not Combo it with E-Dragonite and Swarm with Steelix? With the CC attack, you could actually use Dragonite's attack if needed.

from the fact that 50+70= that amount =/

basically the point of that is it could ko most pokemon in two turns ( unless you fip four tails in a row [Dubious] )

Hrrrrr...

Sweet this card's translation didn't change. This card should seriously be a m-i-z-e. It's reverse Typhlosion. This is swarm WITH a Resistance. You averaging nice damage and the Gloom reduces Steelix's resistance. Play some Pichu and do your best vs Fire. I don't see Fire lasting though with all of the powerful Water Pokemon, but whatever.

Nice card, and finally something I can relate and use confidently!

Actually, you'd need 3 heads over a span of 2 turns for Steelix to do 120 damage, and anyway, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO? You could tech in Aerodactyl and Rage for a bunch more. This Steelix is to flip relient to be as good as the Genesis one, but it'll probably replace Steelix when/if Genesis rotates out, inless we get a playable Scizor/Forretress/Skarmory with Grass Resistance.

The Bellosom is cool to. For those of you with bad eye-sight:

Bellossom
Grass - 90HP

Poke Power - Flower Supplement
Once during your turn (before you attack), you may flip a coin. If heads, attach 1 basic Energy card from your hand to 1 of your benched Pokémon. This power can’t be used if Bellossom is affected by a Special Condition.

[GGC] - Knife Leaf - 30x
Flip 3 coins. This attack does 30 damage times the number of heads.

Weakness: Fire
Resistance: Water -30
Retreat: [CC]

It's no Expedition Venusaur though...

A VERY solid card.

It remains to be seen whether a Bellossom deck can challenge Big Fire.

Definitely worth a try!
