I usually don't voice my opinion for fear f getting flamed by every single person whose signed up on this board =\

Though, with this subject, DMTM said a lot of good things. I agree with everything he said except with the prizes. I do agree with the others on a WOW prize. Something that stands out as a cool prize would be awesome to work for. My dad even said...Why don't they try to give a scholarship out or something. I said I didn't know why really, except for that they might not have the funds. A scholarship would be awesome, or some cool 1 of a kind card even. There just needs to be some kind of competition there. No competition at all would drive a lot of people away, including me. =/

Also on a side note about what Freddy K said. A lot of what he said made sense and one thing stood out...
quote:
3) With money as an issue perhaps publicity and Kudos would be sufficient. Say posting pictures of competitors on Wizards web site? ( Part of the 15+ problem is that as a group 15+ feels ignored.)
Posting pictures of the winners like the first ECSTS was awesome. Publicity would very cool. All I see now is names of people and their decks. I'm like...who is that. I need a picture of the person, so if I like see them I can say hey man, congrats on winning bla bla. I also do feel kind of ignored. All the attention and trips and prizes(accept for 4 or so) is focused on the 14 and under. We're just like the people that make all the tournaments run and we're on the side. It's like in a play. All you ever see is the actors and actresses, but you never see the guy behind the spotlight or the guy that opens and closes the rope thingy.(can't think if the name =/).

Better or more trips/prizes and a little recognition is all I'm really saying will help. Otherwise this game is running fine and starting to look rather good. I'm still enjoying playing it and competing a little among some friends. (most competition is online unfortunately =\)

I will give the Prof Program a chance. Thanks to any of the Wizards staff that have gotten it this far. That would atleast be MTM and DMTM. Thanks.

Now let the criticisms come... [NoNoNo]

You guys have to realize that this area in which you spend most of your community time I'm assuming is very well kept. I've been to boards, seen sites and been to chats that are just cesspools comparatively.

With Rai's comment about pictures, I absolutely LOVED the use of Sideboard's web thingy for coverage of the WCSTS. Lots of pictures, standings, decks, oh my god, it was like I was there! (MAN was I ****** when they took all that content down)

I thought this was going to happen for Origins, since it's a big event, but that doesn't look like it'll happen. I hope it happens for Worlds (what, with all the Professors, you can make them write articles, analyze deck lists, crunch numbers, and type stuff up!)

I'm thinking that the name of this tread should be changed to "Why my city should host Worlds 2003." - The Fish King on the Location of Worlds 2003

There's a new site on the block, it's called Cerulean Caverns. I'm looking for people to send in some articles to get the ball rolling!

Wh0a! I wouldn't mind analyzing a few decks, writing a report (If I go I'll do that anyway =/) or other random stuff for Worldz coverage.

Art has some pretty elite ideas there.
