I just wanted to make a quick post in case not everyone had seen. The new Pokemon Center NY exclusive promos are #51 Rapidash and #52 Ho-Oh.

Do you really honestly think that Lugia's post got the cards printed and distributed in days when he was maintaining that they did not exist at all?
Or that the Battlezone shirts for Profs were magically designed and produced 2 days after the post?
Or is it more likely that if Lugia et al had waited those 2 to 4 days all of these things would have happened anyway?

It would of course be ridiculous to assert that Lugias post magically made Battlezone Shirts appear or that these new Promo cards where printed in an emergency response. This being a given, I do believe that Lugias questions about the future of Pokemon and WoTC have perhaps caused WoTC to realize that in the commercial world, no news is NOT good news to the consumer/player market. Therefore one MIGHT conclude that WoTC, having received a kick in the pants, is responding by actually releasing stuff that has been in the works for a while but that, perhaps, hasn't been given "priority" until now.
I admit, this is only conjecture, as I am not privy to all the inside information that you may have access to (the confidence of your reply indicating that you are being told more than we poor peons).

Nope. I had access to the exact same info as everyone else. I just weighed the liklihood of the accusations, applied what I knew about how businesses run (including those operating under the liscence of another company), and drew different conclusions than many did.

You forget, Pokepop, that some of these people do not know how the real world works.
Sorry, I like Lugia909 as much as anyone. Usually, his posts are dead on, but one post to the PokeGym forums is not going to immediately change the game. ALL it is is coincidence. There is no way WotC can put out Battlezone shirts and promo cards within days of someone's post on the message boards as a response to that post. Think about it, the Professor cards took FOREVER. Well, at least several months. I have still not seen a Maaster Professor card.
Some people may THINK they or others have that kind of power, but they don't.
BTW, I just love how some people make a habit of hijacking posts to fit whatever their complaint of the day is. This post WAS about Pokemon Center promos, NOT the supposed impact of one person's post on PokeGym.

Also, keep in mind that had these things not happened immediately, most likely the complaining would have gone on and this would have appeared to happen anyway when these programs and promos and such finally did appear.

I have worked for many message boards online over the course of several years. Including another UBB, AOL, as well as various ezboards. Given my experience I can say for certain just because you help out on a company's message board doesn't mean you're given special priviledges such as "inside information" from those you work for. Normally you're not an employee when you work on a message board, you're just a volunteer, helping maintain a message board for the benefit of all.

No, I doubt Lugia909 has much of an effect on release dates as people assume he does (probably no more than any of us). And I doubt very much a number of people in R&D as well as marketing even VISIT these forums, let alone are aware of some person named "Lugia909" posting things about whatever. Heck, I doubt they're aware I exist.
It's a coincidence Lugia909 posted when he did. His presense did not hinder or increase production speeds of any Wizards product. I'll bet if he posted last May or so, people would think Legendary Collections was created in part of Lugia909's speech.
Though not to rule out the possibility, Lugia909's post did get people active again to a certain degree. There are dead times when no ground-breaking essays are written, when someone somewhere throws the community a left punch by posting a considerably profound essay.
Now I got nothin' against the fellow per se, but he isn't God. He can't control when Wizards decides to release information. But neither can I. ... Nor can anyone force Wizards to speed up production to "one up" the community. I mean if an essay I write about how TPC should hand the game over to Wizards doesn't get anyone to do anything, I very well doubt anything anyone else writes will.
Of course this shouldn't be taken as a demotovational speech from me. ![[Smile]](../tcg/smile.gif) Feel free to post essays, I think that alone seperates this game from being just for kids to one for ALL ages (and I mean ALL ages). I mean who writes essays on a Barney the Dinosaur message board?? ![[Wink]](../tcg/wink.gif)

Like I said in another thread (don't remember which one), coincidences do happen. While it is entirely possible that those things were on the backburner until recently and WotC suddenly decided they should focus on these things, it is also entirely possible that this stuff was planned to come out now, rumor threads or not. Trying to figure out which one isn't really getting us anywhere, so what's the point?

I agree with `Pop and BPP.The points RR and Sauron point out had nothing to do with Lugia`s post.The Battlezone shirts?They came in so of course MTM is going to tell us.The promo cards?Obviously,as has been told by WotC before,whenever a Promo is made for the Pokemon Center,it is from Nintendo and therefore they do not give WotC much info on them.And,as pointed out by `Pop,Nintendo couldn`t have made those cards in a few days.
So,the point being made that it had anything to do with Lugia`s post is ludicrous.Also,thinking that WotC got a "kick in the pants" by the idiocy that was posted is just that.Idiocy.Lugia didn`t accomplish much other than to show how gullible people are by posting,even with his own admission that he may be wrong, only thoughts and conjectures that have hoodwinked people into believing him.
Now,to get back on topic(I apologize to Lacy),thanx for the info.Looks like I`ll have to make a trip up there soon!

However,I just talked to Pure and she had heard that the Center may be out of them already and are awaiting more.She was on her way to find out and she said she`d let me know,so we`ll have to see.I`d hate to go up there and find out they don`t have them.
Josh:Not sure what the cards do,but I do have the Celebi from the Movie and it gives you a mini movie called "Time Travel" where Celebi goes to a tree with only a few fruit on it,eats the fruit,and then travels through time to when the tree has plenty of fruit and starts feasting happily.
