Hello, this is my first post in this forum.

I'm some guy who quit Pokémon a few years ago (when the first expansion came out) and I wanted to know a couple things: (If you want to inform me about anything else, that's fine too [Smile] )

- Is there some kind of Banned or Restricted list?

- Is there such thing as Magic's Type I and Type II? I mean, are all cards allowed, or is there an expansion limit? (I just want to play with my old Wiggly Deck [Big Grin] )

Thanks in advance. [Big Grin]

Hey! I was an oldie who quit around the time you did!

"- Is there some kind of Banned or Restricted list?"

No idea

Actually, there is! One of them is called modified, it's like T2, old sets rotate out when new ones come in. Unlimited is just like T1. You can use the oldest and the newest cards.

Fire_Drake, thanks for the speedy response [Smile]

Well, Unlimited it is! I hope I still got my "thing" (y'know, like my inspiration, my game, my skill, etc.)

What are the popular archtypes (sp?) there?

Is there some kind of Banned or Restricted list?

Let's answer the second question first.

Is there such thing as Magic's Type I and Type II? I mean, are all cards allowed, or is there an expansion limit? (I just want to play with my old Wiggly Deck)

There are two formats in Pokémon, Unlimited and Modified. Unlimited is like Magic's Type 1, every card is useable, but nothing has been banned from it. Modified works like Type 2, it only allows cards from the last two blocks and the most recent Base Set revision.

Modified uses cards from Neo Genesis, Neo Discovery, Neo Revelation, Neo Destiny, Expedition, Aquapolis (the most recent release), as well as from Legendary Collection, which is the most recent Base Set revision.

There are no cards banned from Unlimited. Two cards are banned in Modified, Slowking (Genesis) and Sneasel (Genesis). Both formats though have banned both Ancient Mew and "Birthday" Pikachu.

And that's round about it.

FYI, Wiggly isn't as strong as it used to me. Sad, because I'm a big Wiggly fan too. [Big Grin] And BTW, if you want to catch up, feel free to browse my website (link's in my sig). [Wink]

Deckwise, it depends on the metagame. Check out the Deck forum though for some ideas.

Phil and Nick, thanks too [Big Grin]

(I know I'm annoying [Razz] , but this is the last one for now)

If I was to play Unlimited, what decks do I have to expect in a huge basis?

Welcome back to Pokemon.

You will see a lot of Neo Genesis Sneasel decks, usually in combination with several other cards. Sneasel is the heavy hitter though. Metal Chansey usually makes a showing. Put a couple of Metal Energy on a Chansey and it reduces his self damage by 40, but only reduces the damage to your opponent by 20. Drop an Unown N on the bench and you're set. Slowking also hangs around in the shadows, helping out the heavy hitters by shutting down the opponent's trainer engine.

In unlimited you will definitely come up against Sneasel which can do BIG damage and is free retreat and it normally goes with Slowking which has probably the strongest ever pokemon power which lets you flip a coin whenever your opponent plays a trainer(unless slowking is affected by a special condition i.e. poisoned, paralysed etc) and on a heads your opponent cant play the trainer and it goes back on top of his deck. Also this power is cumulitive so you can have more than one slowking in play so more chances to get a heads!
