Lets all talk about something other than the games problem for once, ok? Anyway, I did this at Pojo, and thought it would be cool to do here. So how about this, we re-introduce ourselfs to each other since there is less and less communication here in the PokeGym. Basically, Answer these questions.. Name: Martin Moreno How long have you been playing and how did you get started? Around 3 1/2 years. I first started when people in my school were talking so much of this "Poke-League" and I have played ever since. Who is your favorite Wizpog Moderator? SDPokemom, She seriously is a nice person if you get to know her. What are your thoughts on the Professor Program? It isnt the worse thing, all we hear is good things about it's future. But there is room for improvement. What was your favorite Expansion? (base isn't an expansion btw) Neo Genesis. It had the best set of cards since base set. List your top 5 Standard Pokemon 1. Cleffa 2. Murkrow 3. Slowking 4. Sneasel 5. Tyrogue What are your accomplishments in Pokemon? I've won a trip to the ECSTS, and topped 8 the West coast Stadium thing. Whats your favorite thing about the Pokemon TCG? It simply is the most fun TCG out right now. If the fan base was larger, I woulden't even mess with another game. The mechanics are simply great, and Wotc is great in keeping up with rulings, unlike upperdeck. What is your least favorite part of the Pokemon TCG? What happens when I turn 15 =P. I hear alot how people hate coin flips, but it isn't really as bad as you think. Sure, I've had 2 qualifier games for a trip that came down a flip that didn't go my way, but that is what makes the game fun. Just deal with it and play again. What is your favorite soft drink? Dr. Pepper What do you think is the best deck in the current Modified? INTENSE FIRE!!!! Do you play any other TCG's? I play Yu-gi-oh. Yu-gi-oh gets soo annoying because rulings barely exist. However long it's been since jungle came out. Friendz at school had some cards and after I saw em, I got hooked on it and started buying a bit of jungle/base as did my whole school. SDPokemon, cuz she is a lovely lovely person and I like her lots. =/ No no...lets not suck up to any Mods...but personally I like IPGeek the best cuz he's a player and he can understand viewpoints from all sides pretty well...even if every other word of his is in ALL caps. What are your thoughts on the Professor Program? It's ok I guess. I mean, it's better than nothing, but I still wish we had a competitive 15+. Then maybe we wouldnt be losing some good people. What was your favorite Expansion? (base isn't an expansion btw) Base Set 2. Oak, SER, search :OOOOO, well it is an expansion and all but no, i probably would have to say I liked expedition. Muk What are your accomplishments in Pokemon? I've won a trip to the 2nd WCSTS, and I've done pretty well at most major events. I was so close to Top 8ing at the WCSTS..but i sux0red bad in a game. =\ Whats your favorite thing about the Pokemon TCG? The people. I've met a lot of people and learned about a lot of culture and stuff through this game. I've been able to make many friends as well as learn a new language(1337) and i have been able to make memories with a bunch of the online crew that i may tell my children about(maybe when they are teenagers ) and ya. This has shaped my life and is just one era of my childhood, hopefully to continue on a little longer. What is your least favorite part of the Pokemon TCG? I must say that the 15+'s loss of competitive OP is a real loss. Other than that I must say it is the coin flips...but other than that it's all good. What is your favorite soft drink? Sunkist What do you think is the best deck in the current Modified? I've been for about 3 years soon. I didnt start to play as soon the cards came out. I wanted to try it out since I really liked the Game Boy games. So one day I saw they had some league thingy in TRU so I started playing. Who is your favorite Wizpog Moderator? IPGeek21, seriously he's the coolest mod ever. Sensei and the others ... uhh yea whatever. They dont like me. What are your thoughts on the Professor Program? It's not what I expected it to be. I'm kinda dissapointed how they treated us in amsterdam and how some of you we're treated in seattle. I want it to be more of a competitive thing for us over 15. But its more about the judging. As Martin said...There's room for improvement. What was your favorite Expansion? Neo Genesis. Just a great set. Expedition is NOTHING compared to it so all you EXP. lovers can just be quiet. I've never won anything. I placed 2nd in my first STS Q (with Raindance), I T8'd the second in Gothenburg (biggest QT ever), placed 2nd in copenhagen and 3rd in Amsterdam. (All 15+ category). I guess I'll never win that trip to usa. Whats your favorite thing about the Pokemon TCG? Its the first TCG I ever played and I just think its the funniest I've played. The people playing it are the coolest people I've met. I've made some really good friends thanks to this game. Its very easy to understand and get into. I'll always have pokemon in my heart. What is your least favorite part of the Pokemon TCG? The 15+ deal. Econmical reasons ... god what is happening with this world ? its all about making money. And yes the flips. and uhh that Base Blastoise isnt legal in Modified What is your favorite soft drink? What is a soft drink ? uhh anyway ... I had heard much about this new phenomenon called Pokemon for some time, and so I had gotten my first exposure to the anime from some friends of mine that I had met via the Internet. About 3.5 years ago, I decided to stop by this comic store called "Silver Cactus Comics", (which went through a name change since, and now goes by the name of Comic Oasis), and they had a Pokemon League, so I joined up, I was very intrigued by game mechanics, and the divirsity of people that actually play this game, and so, I decided to take a more pro-active role in the game, and become a Tournament Organizer. I have been TO'ing now for about 2 years. Who is your favorite Wizpog Moderator? The moderators all do an exceptional job lending their time and effort to enforce board TOS, and offer some keen insights to various other facets of this game. They are a crucial part of the WizPOG infrastructure. I don't want to play "favourites" with a particular individual, as I feel they all bring a level of uniqueness and individuality to the Pokemon WizPOG community. What are your thoughts on the Professor Program? From what I know of it, it is an up and coming program, that I think has a very promising future for those with an open mind and some determination to ensure this game's continued success worldwide. What was your favorite Expansion? (base isn't an expansion btw) I have to echo Mr. Moreno's sentiments as to Neo Genesis being a "landmark" expansion set. This set introduced new Pokemon, and new mechanics into the game. List your top 5 Standard Pokemon 1. Scyther 2. Suicune 3. Lugia 4. Charmander 5. Squirtle What are your accomplishments in Pokemon? As far as games go, really none to speak of. I like to mostly voulnteer and offer my services to assist a major events. Whats your favorite thing about the Pokemon TCG? The mechanics in this game are simply first rate. Couple this with all the complexities involved with the different elemental types and trainer/supporter cards, the level of skill involved in this game rivals that of Chess in my opinion. What is your least favorite part of the Pokemon TCG? Primarily all the rampant speculation put up by key players of this game, that creates a "state of panic and disarray" amoungst other players, by flooding the community with many claims that usually turn out to have no basis or fact whatsoever. The randomization issue, is one I would like to see CURTAILED somewhat as well. What is your favorite soft drink? Good ole' H20. Water is "life's elixer", and that is all I drink normally. What do you think is the best deck in the current Modified? Well, since I don't generally play, I wouldn't be able to answer this question. Do you play any other TCG's? B)My friend in high school taught me. I hated it at first because of the losses but I learned from them and future expansions helped me out immensely to get where I am today. What is your favorite thing about the Pokemon TCG:The variety of cards,the fun,deck control, little restrictions,and I truly enjoy it and damn anyone who tries to wreck it for me. Several people who I had the great DISPLEASURE of meeting tried to wreck my love for the game(among other things) and it got quite dirty. I learned that some people can take anything very seriously up to the point where it's truly frightening and I mean this. I learned not to be like that,not to be like them. Despite their best efforts my love for the game is still intact and it's going to stay that way if I can help it. Name: Matthew Chin How long have you been playing: Since pokemon TCG began, I got started after playing the game boy game. My mother thought it would be a good idea to get her boys some cards. My first card was a charmeleon. Favorite mod: I really don't have one, probably SD Pokemom for all she has done for us Thoughts on Professors: It needs to have more punch, besides the delagate program, there really isn't a use for the professors other than advertising for WOTC, and questions that we ask at the chat anyway. Fav expansion: Neo Genesis, even though I hate slowking and sneasel, elm and cleffa were worth it. Top 5 unlim: Cleffa Sneasel Slowking Tyrogue Clefable Accomplishments: Won Seattle QT in the first STS (no free trip), 18th first day WCSTS2. That's about it. Favorite thing about Pokemon: Easily one of the best TCGs ever made. Speed that no other TCG has, more complicated strategy than Yugioh or DBZ. Least favorite thing: The idea that pokemon is a kiddie game. This is the main reason that the 15+ is so weak. No teens want to play simply because it's pokemon. Favorite soft drink: Cherry coke Best deck in modified: Right now? Dark gatr, just watch out for jumpluff and victreebel when aquapolis comes out. Any other TCG's: nope, I used to play DBZ. Summer. Someone sent me an emulator and a Blue version ROM over a chat line and I started playing it. Then I heard there was a card game based on it. I thought I'd check it out. I went to the Babbage's at the mall and asked about it. The guy at the counter told me about the sets, the decks, and pointed the Starter Set out to me. I purchased one. Evening, mom drove me home. I don't really know the mods but I think Joshman is pretty cool. I think the prof program is a good opportunity for older kids and adults. My favorite expansion was and may always be Gym Challenge. My favorite pokemon are: Arcanine Rapidash Charizard Pikachu MILTANK!!(I love Miltank) My accomplishments in pokemon are: I got to play in the San Diego STS before they took out over 15. I won all three Legendary Drafts I played at worlds. My favorite thing about pokemon is It's just so fun to play(I love this game!) My least favorite thing about Pokemon is Slowking!and the cost to my son and me up to date with the most current cards.(Although for expedition we traded enough Beanie Babies to a hobby/card shop to get 2 full boxes of cards) My favorite soft drink is Coca Cola Classic.
