I just got a pack of LC, and those reverse holos are really cool looking... a little bright, but cool. is it normal to pull 2 gastly and 2 drowzee in one pack? oh well, there both decent basics. Good job on the set Wizards! i can accually play my NP Mewtwo now [Evil Smirk]

That's natural. Today our Gym Leader bought 2 packs of Legendary Collection, and in one he got 2 Machops and a Machoke, 2 Geodudes and a Graveler, and in another pack he got 2 Squirtle and 1 Dark Wartortle AND a Golem. Had he drafted those 2 packs he could have pulled off the Geodude line. That shows that this set IS draft friendly.

Hey, has anyone gotten any Reverse-Holo Magikraps, sorry, Magikarps (I feel sorry for you if you did)?

Hey all,

Got a box of legendary today, pulled Charizard Reverse Holo and Charizard, Venasaurs, Gyrados, great awesome looking cards! If it wasnt for the Worlds in Seattle, I'd blow my vacation money on trying to get a full set for my deck!

Hey, I call them that too. And what's wrong with Magikarp? Oh, right. Personaly, I can't wait until I get some boxes of LC. I'd like to get 4 so I have a chance at getting all 4 box toppers, but I can't find them anywhere for a cheap price. $83 is way too much, even for a new set.

I pulled like 3 or 4 Reverse Holo Magikarps from a case. I think the distribution is about even though. Somebody I know bought 4 boxes and was just missing 2 Reverse Foils from a complete set. 4-5 boxes seems to be a good number if you want to get the whole set.

Not sure about everywhere else, but LC has been selling VERY well here. However, some parents thought that it was a "rip-off" that they pulled many common duplicates in the packs. I tried explaining that it was for Draft purposes but they wouldn't listen...

Maybe I'm missing something, but why are duplicate commons good from Drafting? After all, you take one card and pass the pack along. You won't see that pack again until there are only 3 or 4 cards left in in...

Maybe it has to do with pre-con play. You get an LC Precon and 2 or 3 packs and make a deck from that. I could see the duplicates being useful then.

I think the packs are kinda fixed, meaning that you'll get 2 Basics and a Stage 1 in some of the packs (I might be wrong though). When you take the say, Haunter, from the pack and pass the pack to the other people in your pod, that person next to you might notice that you picked Haunter (since there are still 2 Gastlys), and he might just pick the Gastly to counter-draft you! I might be thinking too hard though... [Razz]

Yeah, at our league yesterday some people bought the booster packs and found many duplicates and they weren't to happy either!

I saw a reverse holo Beedrill and Dark Wartortle.

I also found out from the GL that they have seen two box toppers, Charizard and Dark Raichu. And I saw the one on eBay, Dark Blastoise. So, has anyone seen or identified the fourth box topper?

I think the set is pretty cool. I only bought 1 box cuz the store near me only has about 1 box left from a case. He sold most of the case on thursday, the day he just got it. I like the reverse holos and the box toppers. Im hoping to get lots and lots of reverse holos so i can make a deck of most of the reverse holos. [Bounce]

On theory, reverse holo are harder to complete the set than the regular set.

There is only maximum 1 reverse holo per pack. To complete the 110 all reverse hole set, you need at least 110 packs. It mean the odd to get reverse holo Charizard (or Migikarp) is 1/110. 110 packs mean 3 boxes plus 2 packs.

On the another hand, there is only 19 Regular holo and 19 regular rare. By getting 1 regular holo out of 3 pack on average, you only need 57 packs to get all 19 regular holo and 19 rare (the rest are duplicate rare). In these 57 packs, you should get all the uncommon and common. The odd to get a regular holo Charizard is 1/57. 57 packs mean 1 box plus 21 pack.

So it is almost double the difficulty to get a reverse hole Charizard than a regular holo Charizard.

I was wondering... for trading purposes, what to you think the rarity of a reverse-foil is to, say, a rare.

In other words, would you trade a rare for a reverse-foil (regardless of the rarity of the reverse since they're all the same rarity)?

Right now, I'll just trade reverse-foil for reverse-foil.

what do you think?

BTW: my friend pulled a Mewtwo and a reverse Mewtwo out of the same batch of packs! and I swear Venusaurs like me! I already got two of them.

I'd bump up the rarity by at least 1 level. Example:

Common Reverse = 2 Uncommons (normally I'd say one Uncommon, but it IS a Common REVERSE HOLO.)
Uncommon Reverse = Rare
Rare Reverse = normal Rare-holo
Rare-holo Reverse* = Shining Pokemon from Neo: Destiny

* I'm not too sure about this anymore, but CAN a card that's supposed to be Holofoil (ex: Alakazam) also have a reverse-holo counterpart?

Yes, My cousin pulled a revers-foil Alakazam, the background was holo, but the picture wasn't holo.

you have the same 1:110 chance of pulling a "common" reverse than a "rare" reverse, so I don't think your rarity scheme applies, if anything it should be a little more than a rare.

Pop, the duplicates in packs make it a very viable sealed product. Not just draft. It does help draft though. You never know when that card will come back to you. As you multiply the chances of getting Evo lines you build a better draft environment.

Yes the packs sre made to be Draft/Sealed friendly if that is what you mean by "fixed". The scheme for pack out makes evo lines a better possibility.

We will probably catch flack for it though. Non-players will not get it. You can please... [Wink]

DMTM, that will do 2 things to the Pokemon TCG. 1, draw in players, especially Draft lover ones. 2, lose players, or at least until e-card. Not all people like etting duplicates in packs.

I dont know about everyone else but i dont mind getting 2 blastoise or venasaur in a pack! I love draft, and i cant think of ANY reason why duplicates would make players stop playing? could you explain that theory to me please?

Well it is an interesting thing. It is such a departure from what we have done before, we were not sure how it would do...so far though it is just flying off the shelves. We have pretty much gone through all of it.

My experience with it:

Bought 4 packs.
Two packs had a 2/1 Kadabra line in them. Only one Bill though. Although I did pull my favorite card, but not reverse holo (see avatar), bought the same card as a box topper for $5, and traded a kid for the one he pulled.

I would love to see 3 Bills in the same pack though...or a Scoop Up, a Reverse Holo Scoop Up, and an uncommon Snorlax in the same pack...

<Snorlax> *eats damage and burps*

--------------------
What, like the pro-archetype attitude is supposed to be restricted to THIS company, and THIS TCG?
All card games run on archetypes. Magic is 90% archetypes. YGO is 90% archetypes. Pokemon was, for the most part, all archetypes before and during MF2. Pokemon will be archetype-based during MF3. Pokemon will be archetype based when it is under Nintendo.

Viva la unoriginality!
