TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
The structure for the Super BattleZone tournaments will be modified-Swiss, with the Alternate Pokemon scoring system in effect.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The format for Super BattleZone tournaments is Unlimited constructed.

Something just doesn't seem right here.

Tournment structure is Modified Swiss, with the format being UNLIMITED constructed. Why ban cards then? I am getting a mixed signal here, what is everyone else's take on this?

I think by Modified Swiss they mean age-modified (15+, 14-)

Unlimited? Forget playing professors. These events are going to need all the judges they can fit into one room...

Times like these makes me realize I really need a PDA for The Compendium, poor poor rainforests!

Dave dusts off his Slowking/Steel Chancey deck, makes sure he puts in a few ER/SER and tweaks it with a few new cards from the current sets. Hmmm, Worlds Professor event at its best.

More people can play Unlimited. More older players can play unlimited.

Obviously this is a going to be a tournament so that everyone can play, since this is at a "League" level. Spark some older players attention into the game as well.

This sounds great. Too bad my only chance of going is if one were somehow run by the only card shop in Rolla (which doesn't even sell Pokemon (last time I checked, they didn't even have a cash register...)). Very slim chance indeed. Unless someone were willing to give me a ride... [Big Grin]

Darn my lack of transportation!

I'm glad it's unlimited. The format isn't as fun, but 90% of the time, the better does end up winning. It's simply a more skilled format.

I like the decision.

20 sites listed so far. I hope one ends up in CO somewhere. [Smile] The biggest Premier TO in CO probably doesn't now that Pokemon is still alive down in Colorado Springs (since he's from Denver), so hopefully, he hasn't steered WOTC/DCI away from CO when they called.

Unlimited is fine with me. One-game matches is a real bummer, especially with the greater ability to get FTKOs and 2TKOs in unlimited (Plus Powers, Darkness, Strenth Charm).

I know why it's Unlimited: they want old players to return. They want people to pick up their dusty old cards they haven't used for years and go to BattleZone. Super BattleZone is supposed to say: "hey, people! Pokemon TCG is back, let's play!"

I think only 20-30 % of all people who own Pokemon cards know what "Modified" is.

If you want retired players to return then you have to allow the older cards..

It'll be interesting for the judges: there have been a few rulings that may surprise some of the returning players. And don't forget all that re-templating in Legendary to reduce the power of metronome.

Yeah, getting old players back in is a good thing. I guess we'll just have to 'relearn' how to do a haymaker.
