I didn't notice anyone mention that an EX Ruby/Sapphire promo is now circulating. Available from a recent Scrye magazine, it is Kyroge EX ...

There is more than just Scrye magazine that you can get the card. I also found the promo in the July issue of InQuest Gamer

Yes. And each pack also has a RH.
Are they going to copy WotC and insert an extra rare for each pack containing a holo?

A Target store near me started selling TCG-EX blister packs on Saturday June 14. My scans and a full report are posted up on Pojo at http://www.pojo.com/chrisbo/061703.html for all to enjoy.
Meanwhile, let me dispel a couple of misconceptions:
1.> The pokemon like MewtwoEX and HitmonchanEX have a rarity equivalent to a non-holo rare. So in theory you can get both a holo rare and an EX pokemon in the same pack.
2.> Out of the six packs I got three EX pokemon, a Darkness Energy, and two Metal Energy as my rares. And only one holo though (bad luck, that's all).
3.> The Holo rare replaces one of the common cards in packs that have them (i.e. 4 Common + 1 Holo, rather than 5 Common). You still get the non-holo rare (or EX pokemon).
Well that's all for now; read my Pojo report for full details.
Enjoy, - CHRISBO

So that means you can get a EX pokemon, a Holo, a Rare, and a Parafoil Holo/Rare all in the same pack in a way right? You'd have to be pretty lucky to get a 4 star pack.

How about this card:
Linoone 70HP Stage 1 Evolves from Zigzagoon
Seek Out Search your deck for up to 2 cards and put them into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.
Continuous Headbutt 40x Flip a coin until you get tails. This attack does 40 damage times the number of heads.
Weak: Fighting Retreat:
Now that is an interesting card. The only thing that balances it is that it's a Stage 1 and an Attack rather than a power. Still...

Looking at that Wurmple card just gave me a great idea. Using Memory Berry from Aquapolis. Here's how it works
1. Use Wurmple's "Signs of Evolution" to get Silcoon/Cascoon. 2. On your next turn, evolve Wurmple into one of the two evos, use Memory Berry, use Wurmple's "Signs of Evolution" again to get Beautifly/Dustox 3. Evolve Silcoon/Cascoon into Beautifly/Dustox.
And there ya have it. A guaranteed evolution- Ruby&Saphire style.

Why would you need to do that? You get to grab two cards the first time you use signs of evolution.

Nope, you don't get a Rare and an EX in the same pack. The EX takes the place of the non-holo Rare.
However, I did get a Holo Aggron, an uncommon Lairon, and an uncommon Aron all three in a row in the same pack. The only think that would've made it more freaky is if the Rare were Metal Energy too

I bought 10 packs today at Target, got 3 regular holos and 3 EX holo's out of them. Either I got statistically very lucky or the EX are more common than holo rare.

I asked this somewhere else, but it must have been overlooked. Does anyone have the decklist of the two theme decks? It would be much appreciated.

I picked up a pack at Target till the local shop gets them in were I can get a good deal on boxes. The cards are good, but the quality of the cards are not that great in my mind. I dont know if I am the only ones that have notice this, but the cards are on thinner paper then the old WOTC cards. I had them in my car for most of the day when I was at work, and when I went home, the cards have started to curve and bend. Has anyone else notice that these cards are of less quality then WOTC ones? I really dont like it.

That was my one complaint about the Kyogre EX. It is much more flimsy than Wizards' card stock. I don't like that aspect at all.

Yeah, you got a point there. I was kind of disapointed that the card was thinner than the average card, but heck. If they work with the old cards, that's fine with me.

I was reading on the pokemon-ex web site the info about the e-Reader dot info. Sounds like all that is present is pokedex information.
I was hoping that there would be additional functionality for the ruby and sapphire gba games included on some of the cards.

Well, on the site they say that this set just has pokedex information, BUT future sets will probably have more. Just wait.

It will come out in volume 170 of Nintendo Power along with Kyogre EX (a 2 for 1 deal!!!). That issue isn't on store shelves yet, but it should be soon. HOWEVER, if you had looked a couple topics down in this forum, you would have known about that.

RE: Card thickness.
Remember the Japanese cards were always on thinner cardstock than the Wizards cards. Not much of a surprise that the Nintendo American cards are thinner. Interestingly, the Japanese YuGiOh cards are thicker than the American ones.

Hmm... I was looking at the scans of EX: R&S... and I found an odd text on Blaziken #4:
Fire Stream 50 Discard a Energy card attached to Blaziken. If you do, this attack does 10 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)
So, the strange point is on "If you do". The player is actually forced to discard the Fire Energy card, it gives no choice. The "if you do" sentence is supposing that the player could choose to discard or not the card.
Tell me if I'm wrong anyway... It's 5 of the morning in Italy and I have to sleep, not to look at the cards ^^;

The "if you do" part would apply to Metronome-like attacks. You have to discard the Fire if you have one attached. No choice. If you do, you get the extra damage. If you don't you don't get the extra damage.
