Q. When will you have the new product schedule? Or, what product is releasing next?
A. Champions (name still to be confirmed) will be the next set. Boosters packs will release in late May and Theme Decks will release in June. This 113-card set will highlight the best of the Red and Blue Pokémon, and every card will have an all-new parallel foil card.
I'm announcing this with the following cautions.
1. This set may be delayed.
2. This set may be switched out for something else.
3. This set is not the new one we are working on. So it is not a "Cross Trainer" set.
We reserve the right to change, modify, Gengarize, or otherwise interupt it's production because the wind changes direction, or MTM get's a Toothache.
But it is the plan right now.
Now back to our regular scheduled Gym....elevator music cues in...one...two....three...

Wait, no. 113 card set. So that means some will be excluded. It says "best of the Red/Blue". Hrm...
So this is either Card-E and Vending combined, without the G/S Pokemon, or some sort of a reprint set of Base thru Gym... Although it says "all-new", it is rather ambiguous. All-new could refer to a) All new cards (as referring to game text), b) All new cards (as referring to holofoil), or c) All new FOIL pattern...

What I think he means, is that every card in the set will have a HOLO version also. I think this is the change he meant to modified, i think this IS the set that "stops Gatr", once again, we have to wait and see...

What this means is holos are going to be treted like mgic holo's!!! A VERY good thing. ![[Smile]](smile.gif) IMO Hopefully it means tht the packs might be cheper. Like magic. And HOPEFULLY it lso means the packs will be easier to draft with. I'd like to be ble to draft with 3 packs a person.
So this is what the MT's have been refering to as the end of gter. VERY interesting.

You have to remember that you could not catch all of the Pokemon in Red and Blue Game Boy Game. It was not until Yellow came out that you could catch all 150 Pokemon. Mew #151 you were only able to get from Toys R us, when each store game out 200 of them. ( Which stunk when my game got erased, after I won one from them) Or you could get it from cheating by using the Game Shark system.
As for the parallel foil card as DMTM talks about. I bet he means the cards will be like the Magic sets were each card rare, uncommon, and common can come as a foil. Which I think is a good idea on how they did it with Magic, and wondered when Wizards would do something like that for Pokemon. ![[Bounce]](graemlins/jump.gif) ![[NoNoNo]](graemlins/nonono.gif)

This sounds like the set they didn`t release after base set 2,just reprints of older cards without the broken ones. The best thing is with the previous printing rule I wont have to buy them , instead I can use the old ones.

You have to remember that you could not catch all of the Pokemon in Red and Blue Game Boy Game. It was not until Yellow came out that you could catch all 150 Pokemon.
Actually it was possible to catch all the Pokémon(except Mew) in the Red and Blue Version.

[high speed ranting] WIZARDS IS RELEAING SAFARI ZONE! Holy smeg, I don't believe it! Finally I can get my Trainer Haunter, my Hypno, my Mr. Mime! YEAH!!!
Wait, how do I know this? Tut tut, my compadre. Here's the low down:
113 cards
Safari Zone (aka Vending) has 108 cards in it, plus or minus related Japanese SZ promo cards and ones already released in English. Give it about 6 energy cards, and you got a number close to 113 cards (ok, 114, but who's counting?).
Kanto (Red/Blue) Pokémon:
Safari Zone has nothing but them (as it was released before Gold and Silver was). And it can't be a rehash of previous sets because Crosstrainer has that covered.
Parallel Foil Cards:
If this is what I think it is, then it means Wizards is bringing over the foil card style as seen in Magic, as in for every card in the set, there is a special foil version of that card produced. And since Safari Zone didn't have any foil cards (or any rares for that matter), the only logical choice to add a collectors flare to the set would be to do the parellel foil process. Which is still cool in my opinion because Rare foils are one to a box. (^_^)

Anybody else find the seperate releses of boosters and theme decks odd?
Anyway, nice to get the inside track on these things. I'd keep the speculation down to a minimum, however. We're still months away.
It would be funny if it was like Safari Zone. Kinda reminds me of when certain cards (cough, Heal Powder, cough) were very similar to some cards I made.
By the way, Nick, you had some stuff for PIRN, right?

This sounds to me like they're trying to "Hybredize" Modified. Judging by the name "Champions" it sounds to me like they're going to take their favorite POKEMON from base-fossil/rocket/whatever and throw them into a set. Really, a surefire way to REALLY shake up modified, and great for collectors.

So basically from what it sounds like, it has turned almost exactely into magic the way they do type 2. Take out the good cards, add the only so-so cards that aren't as broken....
But then again, thats what modified really is, so I guess nothing will really change.

Oh, wait, best of Blue/Red... hey, I think there is a card set like that somewhere...
It belive there was a huge starter set in Japan that ran with "the best of" set. I think the set is called "Green and Red" or "Olive and (some other nice red hue)." It had two themes Bulbasaur and Squirtle. The set was cut into two "halves" and there are 3 holos per half. There are original cards in there, vending, and some cards from Fossil, Base Set, and Jungle. I'm not sure if this is all exactly correct, but the set could be this.
Or the set is a creation of Wizards and they are selecting the "most used" or "most popular" pokemon from Red and Blue.
You can probably suspect that Pikachu will be in it. No doubt Mewtwo, Mew, Gyrados, Dragonite, Snorlax, Venasuar, Blastoise, Charizard, Alakazam, the three legendary birds, and some other "used" and "popular" pokemon. I guess you might not see Arbok, Weezing, Muk, Likitung, Jynx, or some other less used pokemon (and I really want see a new and/or good MAROWAK card).

What are they going to do about team rocket-gym challenge? Or are they going to leave those in?(please leave them in! At least 1 more year!)

Doing the Magic thing with the foils sounds cool. If there is an energy in the pack, then it could be foil too because they are already making those and using them in the leagues.
