easier said than done. Like most people who are annoyed at those who are complaining about not having a league to go to, I am becoming more annoyed at those who say to do something about it rather than complain (no offense directed to you, Toys'R'Us Kid, u're the unfortunate one who said it most currently that i saw).
Do what? you cannot do too much when you are of the age where not too many independant business people will listen to you? Those who are under 13, how many of your parents will take you to a shopping area to advertise to game shops to start a league? (maybe it was just me who had the parents who shot down dreams ).
Start a petition? -- Perhaps it is just my area where merchants look out for what sells and not what the people would like. It really doesn't work and is a waste of time. You'd be better having the people show up at the store. "But why bother to go to a place just to say you want something to be ignored?", is what any logical person would be asking.
Get you're friends to help you -- i must be the only one who does not have friends who play a TCG?
For most of us, WoTC is and will always be the persuading voice. It is them who should be advertising and getting places to host a league.
I have tried asking if some places if they'd consider restarting league, but they do not wish to and i won't be convincing them.
Sorry if this sounded cynical but seriously, telling people to stop complaining isn't the answer. Complaining is all most have to hope that some WoTC connection will report what we're saying and get support from who it should be comming from.
Those who preach and succeed, i know there are some, congrats for u r the lucky ones. It doesn't happen too often.

Fact: The decree to not allow events in the stores came from upper management. The store managers had no say in the matter.

Fact: The Hillsdale and Valeco locations were managed by the same person, who was offered a chance to participate in SBZ by his rep. Needless to say, that didn't happen. You simply can't hold an event for 50 people in 400 square foot worth of retail space.

Fact: The said manager has now quit, and have taken with him several other employees. No, his new employer doesn't have anything to do with TCGs.

Fact: As one of his final acts as the store manager, he has convinced the Hilldale mall management to allow BattleZone to take place in the food court.

Update: The first BattleZone in Hillsdale was held last Sunday (February 16th), and will continue for the forseeable future. I do not know the situation at Valeco. Call the store to find out.

Rant: Irwin, the lady that you speak of was a new employee then. It was either her first or second week. She is now responsible for running BattleZone. (I was your last opponent on the day that you speak of.)

Rant: nick15, the tables will not return to the retail area, except to hold the "Bob the builder" merchandise and the like. BTW, my offer for a ride still stands.
