Author Topic: WOTC not caring about WOTC??? Pkmnrulz241. I already told you... Member Member # 82005 posted February 02, 2003 07:55 AM             Now, here's something that kinda puzzles me. From what I have seen, Wizards of The Coats seems to be caring more about other retailers that it's own stores and employees (DMTM, MTM, etc.) This past Tuesday, I called down to the Wizards of the Coast store in Great Lakes Crossing in Michigan. I asked them if they had any Aquapolis in, as I didn't want to drive for a little under an hour, and find out the hard way. They said no. This kinda shocked me, as I believe Aquapolis was suppose to be released somewhere around the 20th, and a Wizards of the Coast store wasn't suppose to get it until the 31st. This didn't make me happy. Then, I decided to call another store where I use to go to league at (45 miles away again, mind you... not happy about that... But they do hold the largest league in the nation!!! ), and ask if THEY had Aquapolis. Well what d'ya know. They do. And this isn't a sore that is related to WOTC. Now, tell me, why is it that a store like that who put their order in at the same time the WOTC store did would get theirs much earlier. And then for all the master trainers in the chat, from what they say, after the release date, they don't recieve their boxes for a while. Now, I don't know if they personally order them, or if the company gives em to them for the chats and everything, but c'mon WOTC, these are your dang employees!!! You're gonna give other stores not affiliated with you your product first, then give your own stores them afterwards??? What gives? And you guys are gonna get boxes of cards to people on the other side of the nation before you give your own dang employees right there in front of your face them??? I've not seen gamekeepers or wizards with aquapolis in stock yet. Many ofther stores like K B Toys and Books-A-Million have them though. They aren't making the best efforts to keep the game. For example, I ordered 5 boxes of Aquapolis (natch) and it JUST came in. Even though others have gotten it over half a month ago. Chances are that other stores might get them in later than today. Bear in mind too that even though stores may be sympathetic to Pokémon, their shippers might not be. Heck, the shippers might not be sympathetic to ANY game, and probably wouldn't give special treatment for something. "What, this is Pokémon? Geez, we ought to get these cases out POST HASTE! I overheard a conversation between an employee and the two about what all the players were doing (playing Yugioh). He asked them if they've heard of Yugioh and they said they didn't . He asked them if they've heard of Pokemon (since the two are similiar as fads), they looked like it didn't ring too many bells . I went to End Zone cards and comics in Bountiful Utah and bought my box of Aquapoils and took it to the league at the Game Keeper to open up and check out some of the cards with some of my friends there. I was asked by a person who works for the store if it was out yet, because the store would not be getting it for another week or so. Since then the Game Keeper has gotten their Aquapoils, but was send only single booster packs, no sealed boxes . They think that someone in the Wizards Warehouse opened up all the boxes and keep the box toppers for themselfs and then send out just the packs to the Game Keeper. Because of this, Wizards must work with 3 more companies to get these cards out. It has fooled WotC when Expedition came out and the MTMs couldn't get their hands on the cards for sometime because the cards were trying to be sent to the stores first. Same story with Aquapolis. So far there is only one store within 60 miles that actually has Aquapolis for me so it takes time to actually get these new kind of cards. Best advice, keep patient they will come.
