The professor championship so far is said to be a 2 part challenge.

A booster draft of Neo Genesis/Team Rocket
3 rounds of swiss

Bring a neon format deck and play in 3 rounds of swiss

The top 8 after all rounds will rochester draft gym heroes/challenge
Single eleimination to determine the champion.

Now i know the entire championship sounds interesting but to make it more challenging shouldent we be doing the genesis/rocket draft as a rochester draft. I mean booster drafting sounds too easy in a format this intense. I just think they should rochester draft the first part of the challenge. What does everyone think??? Post your comments on this perplexing question.

My comment:

I think the challenge is so intense and interesting they should rochester draft to make it just hard enough where we can get a true professor champion. I know the 3 rounds of modified will porobabily end up with 3-0 going to follower decks (entei/magcargo,crobat,dark gatr-gatr,ext...) so why not make part 2 the harder of the 2 challenges and have the profesors draft this wacky combo under rochester draft.

I'd guess time has a lot to do with it...it took, what? an hour? two? to draft in the Professor event at WCSC? Remember, there will probably be many more than the 30 professors drafting at WCSC there.

'Mom's very correct here; it's a matter of time.

The drafting sequence for Rochester takes longer, due to the logistics of it, than standard booster draft. And after playing several rounds of ModSwiss, it'll be necessary to take this still-large crowd and put them thru the quicker of the draft formats. Once things pare down considerably, THEN Rochester will work very nicely in the time-scheme of things. T8 will basically consist of one single pod...which also eliminates a lot of judging/ruling hassles for both the 'top-end' part of the event as well as for the newer of the two draft formats.

WotC didn't just slap these formats together to make up the Profs Championship; there IS a logic to how this works.

Rochester would take too long, even though the ECSC didn't get to re-draft, but that was still fun.

I thought it was going to be Gym Heroes/Challenge for the draft portion. Remember that e-mail we got a long time ago, that it was most preferred. Well, you can see that on my topic here: 2002 Pokemon Professor Championship And Worlds

I know it could change to any type depending on product availability. Oh, and if your going by the Origins , then I don't know because didn't they say that worlds will be in Hawaii? Oh well, hope to see you all there....

your probabily right. The professor championship max was 64 so it would take too long. I guess a standard draft will be better in many ways.

After reading your question on the professor champonship topic the booster distribution question was for top 8. The standard draft is still rocket/genesis.
