Im gonna be there. I hope to see many farmiliar faces this time around in san diego
The West Coast Stadium Challenge: San Diego Convention Center, Ballroom 20-A 111 W. Harbor Dr. San Diego, CA Its now 45 days away so i hope this topic gets a good role call and some questions about the challenge.

Iam thinking of going but i dont know what i would play for the Proffessor Tournament because the last pack I bought was of Neo Revolution. I dont have that many doubles and I wish i had more cards.

Piccolo- The Professor tourney is a draft, meaning that Wizards provides the packs, you choose your cards and build a deck. You don't have to have an already made deck, and it's Neo Revalation . I shall be attending the Stadium, but I need to know hotels in the area and stuff. ~TRC

I really want to go.....but I don't know if I will be able to. It would be a lot of money to actually get a ticket for a plane and then for the hotel and also spending money. It may just be too much, but don't count me out however.

Well...due to the overwhelming disappointment to my inability to attend the CSC, I will more than likely find some way to get the WSC. I will 100% be at Origins, I mean it's Ohio...

Alternatively, you could check a site like Travelocity.com for nearby hotels. Select "lodging", then "near a point of interest"; type in the San Diego Convention Center as the point of interest and you'll get the closest hotels the the CC.
Hope this helps, and see you all here in SD...

The one problem with that is that no one knows where the hot spot for pokemon players wilol be due to the east coast and central were at hotels so everyone knew where the crowds were gonna gather and now noone knows so we gotta find out where the biggest spot for pokemon players is gonna be.
Due to money problems i have been forced to reserve back at the pickwick hotel which i really hate. I have no one to go with to split cost so i cant afford the gaslamp hotel without REALLY squeezing my cost expenses. I have to do what i said i would do in san diego. Go on a 48 hour caffine/sugar rush. i hope TR_Cassidy brings some KrispyKremes i can buy off her because ill need them. Thanks to SD_Pokemom back in december i knew where to get all the caffine i need. See ya there in san diego!
If i look a bit either wired or JUMPY and off the WALL Dont mind me i will be on my sugar rush. [ April 30, 2002, 06:50 AM: Message edited by: FireFighter09 ]

My family of three will be there. I have also volunteered to work at the event.
We were in San Diego in March and stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites near the Hunter Steakhouse. They had a continental breakfast of cereals, donuts, pastries, bagels, toast, milk, juice and coffee.

I'll definitely be there, though I can't stay late that night. I'm not sure about Friday night yet.
TRC-where did you stay last December? The Stadium is in the same place as the WCSTS, just two floors straight up.
As far as the after hours hot spots... the biggest ones were in the hotel for the winners of the QTs and the one DMTM held. There is no such hotel for the QT winners as there are no QTs this year. I tried to get something going at the Marriott next door, but everyone ended up going elsewhere. My guess there won't be a particular hot spot other than pick up events in the nearby hotels. And the councourse area of the Convention Center was heavily used in the pre-registration hours. I'd just stay as close to the SDCC as you can afford, as any after hours gaming is going to be close by.

I emailed SD_Pokemom about this and she also said there will be no hot spot and that some of the professors might have to make the hot spot so what im gonna try to do is see if after the WCSC if theCC or a hotel near by can be used as a late night hot spot.

Ummmmm....actually, I said that I did not know of a "hot spot" yet, NOT that there "wasn't going to be one"; and that people who are staying in the area might want to get together and create one on their own... [ April 26, 2002, 03:09 PM: Message edited by: SD_PokeMom ]

Eeep-ness. If that's a word. My chances of getting down to San Diego has dropped from 85% to 50%. Unfortunatly, I could not get time off from work for that weekend, so I need to find someone at work who doesn't work during the weekend so that we can switch our days. (I'll still be at Worlds though.)
Hopefully you can count me in as one of the many people going to the next West Coast Stadium Challenge. (And forutnatly as well, I know my way around enough to get by. Good times.)

We aren't staying at the hotel we stayed at last time, that's for sure(they charged us a fortune in parking fees, got our rooms screwed up and generally weren't what we expected) Anyway, my mom's antzi for results to make the reservations so I'll just let her pick one . ~TRC

1st place: a trip to the worlds(airfare and hotel) included: Sweet professor jacket 1 box and 1/2 of neo destiny boosters world pikachu collection nice collection of revelation holos
2nd place: 1 box and 1/2 of destiny boosters World pikachu collection collection of neo revelation holos
Booster drafting: You are seated in an 8 person pod and given a few packs. You open one pack and choose a card. Then you pas the rest of the c ards to the left. after pack one is done you open pack 2 and choose a card. This time you pass right. You do this till all the packs are done and the cards you choose are the cards you build a 40 card deck from. You use stradegy and knowledge to choose cards to build a goo deck. When everyone is done building their decks they battle in a tournament with the decks. most tournaments are swiss but some may be single elimination.

But remember, the Professor event isn't just booster draft, it's Rochester booster draft. More than slightly different. First of all, instead of five packs, each player has six. And each player in turn opens two packs and places them on the table face up. Each player then drafts knowing what everyone else is taking, and every other player knowing what you are drafting. The drafting strategy is different since you know what you will be playing against, and since you aren't going to get away with a 'secret' strategy deck.
And the play is supposed to be swiss within the pod, then top xx are supposed to redraft in the finals. But at the East Stadium, I believe they drafted and then went swiss en masse instead of within the drafting pods. I haven't been able to determine how they did it at Central. And we'll just have to wait until June to find out what happens in San Diego.

Lance 313 - So you'll know, yes we did play in our own assigned pod at the Rochester Draft at the CSC. Then the top 8 redrafted again & played.

That is sad. I wish pokemon was active all over the USA. Hey you can always go to league near you. If you gotta travel some to get to a leauge per week it could be worth it. I know back last year when our leauge went down we went to a leauge 2 hour away 1 time a week to play. it was a bit ways but it was well worth it.

Piccolo,
If you DID want to travel a little, there are quite a few leagues in the counties surrounding you. There is a store (Heroes Unlimited) running a league in Fontana, which is probably the closest to you.
Or convince your parents to move (or move yourself if you're on your own).

Wish i could tell my parents to take me that far but they dont have the time to drive 25 to 30 mins one way to fontana. Also Iam kinda into another game now, which you can tell which one by my name. Still I will try to convince my parents to take me to the Stadium tournament where i can aleast have fun there and maybe have a chance to win a trip to worlds. So, for anyone who has to face me in the Professor Tournament at the San Diego Stadium Challage, Let me win. )
