Topic: When will new modified go into effect?

Hey,
I was just reading over some e-mials from the professor list and I saw it mentioned that the new modified will be with only NEO cards.
I am just wondering when this will happen, it makes a ref. to the Worlds and to Gen Com. Can somebody please inform me of when these events are, and if possible what the possible "offical" date is for this.

August 2nd (when Gen Con starts) will be when Modified will officially be modified to Neo sets only.
Note: I got the Gen Con dates from http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/yugioh/ which says they will be at Gen Con (information is in the Hot News portion of the site). If it's wrong, forgive me.

Actually, according to information here: http://www.wizards.com/conventions/main.asp?x=welcome , GenCon is August 8 - 11, 2002.
If it was August 3 and 4, it would conflict with Worlds, in Seattle...

You are a little bit off Unown Trainer. It will be Neo Genesis and forward, which will include Champions which comes out in May and whatever other set that might come out before that time.

I am telling everyone as of the first of Aug. The reason why is because both the Worlds and Gen Con are within the first weeks of Aug. and both of them from what he have been told with be the new Modified format. Which includes the following:
All four of the Neo sets.
Southern Island set
All black star promos
All holo energys that have been given out in the league which includes the use of the rainbow energy according to MTM.
THe Champions set which comes out in May but also is not a set thing accourding to DMTM
And any pass cards that are in current set and Promos like base set Pokemon center.

I do hope that 1st August is correct that would give those players outside the US access to Champions too.
Whatever happens Modified must not be changed until we all have access to the same card pool.
So it must wait for local language versions to be printed and distributed ... if you want a real world champion that is ![[Wink]](../tcg/wink.gif)

Actually, it will be earlier. According to a Professor Digest, the new Modified format will be played at the Professor Championships at Origins (July 4-7) in Columbus, OH.
