My case is similar to Darkleaf Master's issue with being under 18, but wanting to start a new BZ locaton anyway.

His topic is on page 2 under the following:
To run Battlezone

Now, I have the same problem: I have a capable store, I just need info to show to the manager there. I don't know how much a kit costs, so I all I can do right now is tell them to email leaguesupport@wizards.com to sign up. However, I doubt just giving them an email address will win them over...

I want to get the store signed up as soon as possible. PLEASE HELP ME!

Hello fellow 18- Professor trying to start a BattleZone [Smile] I too am in the struggle of getting a BattleZone off the ground, and I am finally seeing a few results, so hopefully the little advice I have can help.

One thing I had trouble with starting a BattleZone, was the fact that the storeowner wanted results and I only had a small time frame to work with. The store I set BattleZone up uses a scheduling system where games cycle in and out on a monthly basis. This was one of the biggest problems for me, growing a good player base under 5 weeks (really 4 since the store closed one week because of a snow storm on week 1). I lucked out though when one of the store employees I know talked to the owner about how I am doing this from scratch, so I got an extension, and well I am still having a BattleZone now, so something must have worked.

Getting the word out here in New Hampshire is maybe the second hardest aspect of the process. All the towns out here are small and low in Card Game players. Something that seemed to do well was the fact I took the effort to design, print, and post some posters around the town in which the store is located. I started with 2 members, then three, four and now five plus my self. I hope to get more as long as I can.

BattleZone kits is a funny issue… At first the store ordered the January kit, and well… that’s all I have had as prize support since then. I was told more kits would be ordered when more players played. Well, no prize support, what would encourage the players to keep coming? I had supplies to last me till now, and a kit order was put in last week, so hopefully something is coming. Every time I offer to pay for the kits, the storeowner says he will order one, yet so far he hasn’t, so I can’t tell how much one kit costs, but others have said its $5 USD.

So once you have a store that’s willing to run BattleZone, I would make posters and put them up ASAP. It will take time to get a player base, and you need to get the word out there. That’s really only the advice I have from my experience, I would talk to JDGloom from Pokémon Zeo, he gave me good advice when I needed it, and I am sure he will be willing to help you think of some things to get yours off the ground. Good Luck!

I truly thank you for your help. Your sharing of your experience has helped.

Heh, it's kind of funny, I have fliers ready to be copied and posted around town, I just need to write in the time slot.

I will talk with the manager tomorrow and try to set up a weekly time slot.
