Just to clarify: Pysmimic states: "Once during your turn, instead of Alakazam's normal attack, you may choose 1 of your opponent's Pokemon attacks. Alakzam copies the attack including its energy costs and anything else required in order to do the attack, such as discarding Energy cards.
Question is this, does theenergy have to be the same type as the pokemon attack you are copying, such as Charizard's Fire Spin, which is 4 fire energy? Thanks

Yep it DOES mean you need to have the REQUIRED type of energy (in your ex. fire).

The energy cost includes type requirements, so yes, you must have the the specific energy type listed on the card. Not too worry thought, as a)with 100HP, you can affor to slap a Rainbow or two on Alakazam, b)the starter has an excellent set up for Alakzam if you don't have many Rainbow Energy and must use all the real energies, and c)this is the reason they gave it synchroblast-for pounding energy hogs while they power-up.
Did I mention I like this card and have already designed a deck for it?
Have fun!
