With my set of Pokemon cards I am not keen on anyone touching my cards and kids are completely banned from coming into contact. I get concerned about the chance of wear on my precious cards and was thinking about getting a collection set and a playing set. I wanted to know if for my collection set the official pokemon folders are best for storage or has anyone found anything better.

That's what I use, but I also use protective sleeves. They're pretty cheap, and they really help keep your cards in good condition. Don't get the cheap ones though, because they don't help much. The ones I use are Ultro PRO Deck Protector's. They come in black, green, red and clear. With them you probably wouldn't even need two seperate sets, but that's up to you.

Just some feedback on this post. I have now obtained a set of Ultra Pro sleeves, clear with a circular sticker on one side. They are excellent, just the thing. Now I have ordered a gold backed set of sleeves for her indoors. Next I will look at albums and folders.

May I respectfully suggest that this is a bad policy? I *want* my son to play with them - he just needs to wash his hands first.
Ultrapro sleeves are great but expensive. May I suggest that you invest in the cheaper polypropalene 100 for $1 sleeves? They are "baggier" but if you have a lot of cards to protect this is the way to go. I use these for my Magic cards. Since we play with the Pokemon cards competetively we use the nicer sleeves as they shuffle better and lay flat.
Someone else suggested buying bulk off ebay - excellent idea. Give lots to your kids and play play play! That's what they're for (the cards AND the kids!)!

The Kids are my girlfriends two boys. They have there own collection of Pokemon cards and because of the way they treat their cards with all the dirt round the rim and creasing and folds, sweaty water marks. It is a good policy for me to say leave my cards alone.

Yes the Ultra Pro are expensive but they offer the quality and protection I demand. Now on the other hand all the energy cards could be protected this way.
