Has anyone noticed that the wording on Strength is quite different from the wording on Plus Power. Yes, it's a tool and yes, it doesn't get discarded until it has its impact--but there's more.
The wording on Strength Charm doesn't mention the defending Pokemon. If you stick to its wording--it sure seems that the entire attack is increased (across the board) by 10 HP. By my read, a Yanma with a Strength Charm (when it flips a head) does 20 damage to each of the opponent's Pokemon. And, Murkrow with a Strength Charm can do 30 to a benched Pokemon--knocking out a baby on the bench.
Has this been discussed anywhere? Has there been a ruling on it?

Has this been discussed? Yes, and here is the ruling (as it stands now):
quote: == STRENGTH CHARM (Expedition Expansion)
Q. Does Strength Charm add damage done to benched Pokemon? So if Magneton does "Self Destruct" with a Strength tool on does it do 10 more to EACH benched poke? A. Yes, as Strength Charm is worded, it adds 10 damage to the attack. That includes damage being done to the benched Pokemon. (Sep 26, 2002 WotC Chat, Q505 & Q523)

Thank you Yoshi! I appreciate how you document your answers. You are an asset to the community. The interpretation is what I would expect: it is being literal. I take it that all damage to self would also be increased by 10--including the damage done when a confused Pokemon attacks (and gets a tail).
By the way, have you succeeded in finding any tournaments in Upstate New York? Let us know. We might be willing to travel.

Please forgive me for saying so, but IMHO it would be nice if you'd ALSO remember to document the source of your answers, Yoshi...the Pokémon Rules Compendium found here: http://pkcompendium.hypermart.net/ ...especially since they've been directly cut and pasted from the Compendium.
The members of Team Compendium, especially Chrisbo, put in a LOT of work every week distilling the new rulings from the weekly chats with the MTs, then putting them up on the Team Compendium site for everyone to see; wouldn't it only be polite to credit them for all their hard work and give the URL so people can look up any questions they might have on their own? I know this has already been discussed and all but I just noticed something else. If you use an E-Reader on it, it specifically says that the extra damage does NOT apply to Bench Pokemon! It actually makes perfect sense as all damage done to bench Pokemon (prior to Expedition), could not be increased by cards like PlusPower and Darkness Energy. You might also know that the Expedition Darkness Energy was an error and we are supposed to play it like the Genesis version. I believe that Strength Charm is an error too.

That's been discussed as well, but the rule is the rule-at least for the time being.
