1. If I attack someone using the swift attack and they have an steel energy attached to their active, does swift get reduced by 10?

2. I play a pichu(genesis) and my opponent has a aquapolis jumpluff with one damage counter on it(so it can use its power). He also has other pokemon on its bench that are not jumpluff but have powers. If I use pichu's attack and Jumpluff power gets a head(so the attack doesn't effect jumpluff), would it affect the pokemon on the bench?

3. When you damage a pokemon with a steel energy on it, and you are its weakness, do you reduce the damage by 10 then double it, or double then reduce by 10. I remember there was some sort of an error on the Exp. energy and the new ones in aquapolis suggests you take 10 off then double it.

Thanks

1. No. Swift will ignore the effect of the metal and just do the straight damage.

2. The bench would be effected. It has been ruled the Fluff only prevents effects done to Jumpluff. Effects to other pokemon still happen.

3. If the defending pokemon has a Metal Energy and is weak to your attack you double the damage first, then apply the Metal effect.

From the Compendium...

1. Swift vs. Metal Energy

Q. If I use the Swift attack and the opponent has a Metal Energy attached to the defending Pokémon, does the Metal Energy reduce the amount of damage or do the conditions of the Swift attack override the Metal Energy effect?
A. Swift will override the Metal energy card effect [on the opponent]. (Jan 18, 2001 WotC Chat, Q68b; Jan 25, 2001 WotC Chat, Q18)

2. Pichu vs. Jumpluff

Q. Aquapolis Jumpluff's PokeBody - Does it block the entire attack (such as with Tyranitar's Trample) if it is on the bench and flipped Heads for the PokeBody?
A. Jumpluff just prevents the damage and other effects of attacks done to itself only!!!!! It does NOT prevent the effects from the attack to others! It just protects itself. (Feb 6, 2003 WotC Chat, Q874)

3. Appling weakness or metal first

According to the Neo Rules (on the Wizards web site), step (C) is to double the damage for weakness. Step G says to "Figure out damage effects of Trainer cards and Energy cards on the Defending Pokemon (like Defender or Metal Energy).

So, you would double the damage, then reduce.

But I must admit that this seems counter-intuitive to me. Metal energy is like a shield. It reduces outgoing damage before weakness and resistance and I would think it would reduce incoming damage before weakness and resistance.

Text from Neo Genesis Metal Energy (same on Aquapolis):

Damage done to the Pokémon Metal Energy is attached to is reduced by 10 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). If the Pokémon Metal Energy is attached to isn't (M), whenever it damages a Pokémon, reduce that damage by 10 (before applying Weakness and Resistance).
Metal Energy provides (M) Energy. (Doesn't count as a basic Energy card).

From the exact text on the card, Metal Energy reduces attacking damage before weakness and resistance while it reduces defending damage after weakness and resistance.

For example:

A) If you attack with a Dark Blastoise, that has a Metal Energy attached, against a Charizard, you would reduce the damage by 10, then double it.

B) If you attack with a Dark Blastoise against a Charizard, with a Metal Energy attached, damage would be doubled, then reduced by 10.
