I've been debating recently if Stadium Cards will be so important now that Chaos Gym will officially be discluded once MMF starts. Right now I feel with the Chaos Gym it is important to run counter Gyms. The only other real disrupting Gym in MMF would be Sprout Tower with Murkrow nad Slowking. Other than that I dont see how your opponent's Stadium Card will hurt you except for mabye Broken Ground Gym. All the other Stadium helps both players. I.e. Lucky Stadium = Both can draw 1 card with a coin flip, Energy Stadium = Both can get an energy from their discard with a coin flip. You get the picture.

I would much rather use those slots now for extra Pokemon or Trainers and go off of my opponents Stadium Card. [Dubious]

Stadium trainer cards are SO UNDERrated... An extra 20+ on a pokemon can be very annoying...

Interesting point... AND I AGREE, CHAOS is the gym to play or GET rid of from play right now (I will miss it... well sort of).

I will continue to put in at least 2 gyms in my deck to get rid of... but it all depends on how the DECKS progress in the format...

Unimportant? Tell that to my Energy Stadium and Sprout Tower. It all depends what other stadiums are used.

I don't necessarily agree that just because a Stadium can be used by both players that it becomes unimportant and less valuable to the deck than some of your other card choices. There are certainly some Stadiums that help your Opponent as much or more than you, and in those instances, your deck space could probably be better utilized.

However, in a very focused deck, a Stadium that furthers the goal of your deck, even if the opponent can use it, will most likely give you an advantage over your opponent. If you have designed your deck to take advantage of the Stadium, chances are great that you will gain an advantage by playing it. Stadiums may be slightly less important as things like Chaos Gym are phased out, but I wouldn't go so far as to say unimportant.

Well, if you don't want to run stadiums, but worry about those of your opponent, try this out: DP2+Light Piloswine. You can use light piloswine to get rid of whatever the heck your opponent puts out there (plus you got that fluffy wool shtick to protect you... a little), then if they have a discarded one that helps you, then Dark Porygon2 can bring it back. If you decide to do this, you could try putting them in a psychic deck with Dark Gengar to further help Light P's fluffy wool power and to add more of a reason to add Rocket's Hideout. Plus, since pilo and Pory both use colorless energy, it can easily be splashed. Unfortunately, I can't take full credit for this (oh, how I wish I could), but It seems like it would work well. I agree- stadiums ARE underrated. RH is reason enough to run countergyms. Plus, there's Lucky (which I adore), Broken ground, Ecogym (one of my personal favorites in my metal-streaked "Sting of the (Nido)King" deck), there's Pokemon tower (which I don't think anyone else has mentioned), and, what's one more...? Oh- Healing fields (it's REALLY, ridiculously popular where I play). Anyway, that's my input (and mouthful). Laters.

Yeah, I thought so too.

I've seen the following being used as of now...

Sprout Tower (no need to worry, unless you're playing Colorless [Eek!] )

Broken Ground Gym (not too much of a problem)

Rocket's Hideout (you should be able to get around that since the Hideout only brings Dark Pokemon to around an average HP, not an obscenely high HP).

Healing Fields, Radio Tower, Lucky Stadium, and Energy Stadium (no problem at all).

I myself have only played Healing Fields, Energy Stadium, and the Hideout.

I think there was a difference in Chaos Gym and all the rest. Any Gym can have a place in a certain type of deck. However Chaos Gym, rather than aiding in an overall strategy, could be the centerpiece of a deck. Put in 4 chaos, limit your trainers to 15 or sometimes even less, lots of energy, some pokemon that need little trainer support -- presto a really annoying deck. Probably not one that will win a tournament, but one that with the right draws and some lucky flips can beat any deck out there.

There aren't any "centerpiece" gyms now. The closest one I can think of is the Energy gym, it can sorta be the centerpiece of a fire deck, but not with the disruptive consequences of Chaos.

So like any other problem it's a risk/reward equation: Do I put in a couple of gyms to help me more than the other player? Or do I use those valuable slots to further other parts of the overall strategy and hope my opponent doesn't get too much advantage from Gyms? Either choice can be right.

Good topic to think about. Since gyms usually affect both players, it would depend on your deck and your opponent's deck. What about the new one, Radio Tower, who would play that? Got two fire energies coming up, sure I'll play Entei. Should I elm or wait to see if I draw something good? How about bluffing like your getting something broken next turn? Well maybe, but just think about it. Like most cards, it will have it's Pros and Cons.

Most of my MMF decks donot include a Stadium. When Chaos Gym and the Gym Leader Gyms were around, then yeah a Stadium was important to me since those kind of stadiums could be one sided. Now, the only Gyms that are really one sided are Sprout Tower and Rocket's Hideout. While it does make sense to include a working Stadium in a deck that needs it, like an Energy Stadium in a Fire deck, I no longer save a space in my deck for "counter" gyms.

What it comes down to is, why should I devote a space in my deck for a card that benefits both players when I could just use the card that my opponant played instead. The only dangers are Sprout Tower, which could be totally useless against you, and Rocket Hideout, which is good but almost unneccessary when a lot of the decks out there (fire, some Water) focus on delivering a one-hit KO.

If it gives me enough of an advantage over my opponant, then I'll play it. If not, then I'm better off without it.

Thats true, but again those are the things you should look for when building your deck. Of course I doubt I would play it, since only a few cards put it in your hand (Energy Retrieval, Super Energy Retrieval, Gastly, Dark Slowbro, and some of the Rods come to mind). Since most of those things are used to get energy back, it's safe to assume that Energy Stadium would be played too in a deck that used some of those cards. Pokemon Tower could be an annoyance, but I don't think it would be effective.
