Ok everyone at the pokemon leaque I go to uses this kind of deck. I want to know if there is a good card to play against this combo? One person even uses a electrode and buzzaps for water energy. Any tips? The Feraligtr is the one with the tsunami power.

Don't forget, the power would be nullified if the card were attached to Brock's Ninetales.
Basically anything that stops powers is your friend here. Goop Gas Attack, Muk, etc. At that pont some good water will be all you need.

Wait, they say that because Feraligatr has a poke-"body" that it doesn't get shut off. Are they right?

Nope,
WHAT he is saying is to METAGAME your area. USE Muk, USE GGA, USE magby, etc to STOP your opponents from taking advatage of this combo.
Poke-body and poke-powers ARE stopped by means that HAVE ALWAYS been stopped in the past (examples above)

quote: Q. So just to clarify, Muk's "Toxic Gas" will prevent Poke-Body powers, right? A. Yes. (Sep 5, 2002 WotC Chat, Q177)
So a Poke-body is a Pokemon power, and thus it cannot be used if it is on an evo card attached to Brock's Ninetales.

bodys shouldnt get shut off by muk, since pokebodys do not get shut off by specal conditions, pokebodys should work on B.Ninetails, but if they DO buzap, they can just make it dark anyway Um, any status will ruin B.Ninetails, since now posion kills its power (along with burn).

PokeBodys is the same as PokePowers and Pokemon Powers... The only difference is that Bodies doesnt get shut off by Special Conditions...
Pokebodies DO NOT work on Brocks Ninetails...

So let me see if this is right. Poke-bodies are shut off by Brock's Ninetails, but not by special conditions? Any major proof? Like has MTM said this? I need proof because they won't believe just a few people on a board.

The following was posted to the Prof list about a month ago:
quote: Hi guys,
Welcome to the world of game rulings in a game that isn't built on a solid rules system. We have said it before and I will say it again, you cannot look for a complete logic system in this game. It does not exist. This comes directly from the creators of the game.
So, we do our best to create a pseudo logic system for the rules.
So, Poke-BODYs and Poke-POWERs are both Pokemon Powers, just different types. Muk ignores ALL of these.
The ruling that came down for the Light Dragonite vs the neww Tyranitar came about due to game simplicity. Time-Stamping (keeping track of what came out first) is a messy way to do game rules. How do you remember or mark the order of things coming into play? Remember this game is NOT made for rules lawyers like us but for young players. Hence, the ruling that we came out with. This is what Japan would say as well but without explaining why it works this way. They do not think it is necessary to have a solid game rules logic tree in this game. They feel that the players would just figure it out or agree amongst themselves how these interactions would work.
We are the folks that have created tournaments and the DCI and so on and so of course a fairly consistant ruling is needed for these events. So we give you the ruling, but don't think that it covers or illustrates a larger logic system, the game doesn't have them designed into it.
Hope that helps. Feel free to keep asking questions, we do our best, but also realize that sometimes the answer is what it is, simply because thats what it is.
MTM
(Emphasis mine)
And the final word:
quote: Q. Can attached cards on Brock's Ninetales use their Poke-BODYs, or are they still considered Poke-POWERs? A. Poke-BODYs are Pokemon Powers, they are just a sub category of them. You could NOT use them in this case. (Sep 12, 2002 WotC Chat, Q371)
Sorry I didn't bring this up earlier-I didn't realize a direct ruling existed on the issue (I keep telling you-I don't know every rule). [ October 22, 2002, 02:48 PM: Message edited by: yoshi1001 ]
