In a mod deck after dec. 2002, how many cleffas should be used? i used to play 4 cleffas now i'm consider 3, perhaps 2. Assuming i'm playing 8 cards w/ draw power, how many cleffas should be used in a mod. deck?

I'll be down to 2 at most... and maybe even just one in some decks.

With Slowking gone, Trainers become reliable, and so you don't need to "waste" an attack to get a new hand.

And, no, Noctowl is NOT gonna be the new Slowking...

I'll still most likely be running three. I usually don't come up against Slowking anyway, but it always saves me in situations of anti-decking, and bad luck. (Which I tend to have a lot of.)

I don't think there'll be that much of a drop in Cleffa, there's no reason to be. Cleffa is an all around great card for drawing, not just an anti-slowking drawer...

Not to mention Cleffa + Focus Band is just plain evil... [Wink]

I have always played three (since I realized they wre useful [Roll Eyes] and wil continue to do so until its rotated out. I didn't worry about King much before- I was mainly worried about setting up-period. That is what Cleffa does-sacrifice an attack or two,a nd yo0u can probaly set up your big guns by turn 3.

*sigh* I use two genesis...can't be competitive with almost any deck without it.

Mr. Pokemon Challenge...do you get a thrill from getting locked?

First off, banning of cards from organized play can only be done the DCI.

Alos, I doubt the Mayor of Kansas city even knows the game exist...much less wastes taxpayer money by passing silly city ordinances like banning a card from a game maybe 50 in your city play (at most).

You're silly...and just trying to get attention. Not liking a card is one thing...being an idiot about it is another. Stop complaining...wait till Sept. 1 2003 and just post deck fixes that remove Cleffas.

That's what I did with Slowking...and look where it got me [Big Grin]

The cycle continues. Well it's pretty obvious with EXP's reprints that the Japanese are setting up for a new Mod with essential Trainers and the like if they didn't already did that. But's just my observation of the EXP mechanics and for the question above I use 2 Neo Gen Clef in a good majority of my decks. I can't break any ground without them unfortunately.

As for the number of Cleffa, if you don't play 4, I pity you. Although, I'm not really involved too much in the MMF metagame. But in Unlimited, certainly, 4 are needed. Period. Unless they suddenly ban Lass, Slowking, Dark Vileplume, RSA, and all other forms of distruption.

I always play 3. Cleffa has saved me from decking about a million times. And the baby power lets him lasts awhile. [Devilish]

Personally, I will be taking Cleffa's out of your team play decks. Well, actually, I'll be taking them out of your play area to the discard pile.
-- Exp. Vileplume

Anyway, at first I thought MrPC was a young-un, now I'm wondering if we have another Cheeno Moreeno here. Anyway, intentionally or not, he's trolling...when he says something silly, to misquote the Wizard of Oz:

"Pay no attention to that troll behind the curtain." [White Mana]

Back to the subject at hand, I'm thinking fewer Cleffa, but not none in most MF decks. Cleffa became wildly popular in the big trainer denial days. However, now trainers are virtually undeniable. But its the combination of that with the loss of the big OHKO environment (Fgatr) could change things.

Now that most tournament worthy main hitters can survive at least two shots from most others, is it less important to have a baby stall? I mean, part of the inhibition before was, that if you got out your big hitter v. baby and it stalled you, your active faced retreat/OHKO and the opponent might go through your bench before you could set up again. Now, setups can overlap the use of the active hitter. So, the space in the deck that might have gone to draw Cleffa/baby stall, can be replaced with little hitters that may take a prize or two while you're setting up the big one.

Let me know where you find holes in this theory.

Mr. PokemonChallenge...

You are correct...you have not insulted anyone...but your incessant yammering about 'Cleffa this, Cleffa that' all over the boards ever since you returned is getting both annoying and old.

We get it...you think Cleffa is overused...

Feel better?
