I got in an argument aboot this earlier, and i was wondering if you guys could help me out. Whoever gets the high roll at the begining of a game(or calls heads/tails correctly) decides who goes first, correct? If the player wanted to go second, he could decide that, eh? Anywho, thx for helping me out.

Yes winner of the coin flip/die roll/dice rolls chooses to go first or second. From the DCI Pokémon Floor Rules:
quote: 213. Who Plays First The winner of a coin toss (or other random method) chooses who plays first.
The Rulebooks from the theme decks have the winner going first so that might be what your opponent is referencing.

ALso, the new R&S rulebook is updated to say that you get to choose. This is important in the new rules since the first player doesn't get to draw a card.

Not really that important: unless you can play absolutely no more cards, you are better off going first. Look at it this way: its not losing your first draw... it's getting a chance to play Trainers, attach energy, and attack before your opponent "goes first". When YGO was starting, people thought it was better to go second becuase you couldn;t attack first turn. Then we realized that the first turn was the only turn your opponent couldn't possibly activate a trap card (Traps have to be set in play for a turn before activation). No one really wants to go second now.
