it is shown that elm is becoming lessed used due to the new cards copycat and oak's research. in modified, copycat stands out the most out of all cards, but in unlimited, problems arise.

in modified, it is guaranteed that your opponent 99.9% of the time will have a big hand.

in unlimited, people tend to have a small hand due to the quick play that everyone does. so in unlimited, would oak's research be better, or is copycat still dominant?

Currently, I have not played much with the new supporters. I have only gotten a few so far, namely Mary's Impulse and a pokemon Nurse. Personally, I would think that most would swap their Elm's out for Oaks research, but otherwise keep their old Trainer Engine in Modified. The exception to this is decks that rely on other Supporters heavily, and would rather only draw 2 (Bill) or lose Trainers all together but get a bigger draw (Professor Elm). Prof. Elm is doubtfull, but I plan on keeping Bill myself. As I was saying though, I dislike Copycat. Why? Because, I think people will, as I said, minimize the amount of Supporters in their deck. My hand tends to bounce around between 3 and 7 cards, so you'd average the same as for Oak's research (in Modified). If copycat does com on strong, expect players to learn how to use up mtheir hand fast (a la Unlimited).

Finally to your actual question (sorry [Embarrassed] ), Oak's Reearch would be better, but Professor Oak itself is still superior. I also am partial to Gambler myself. [Wink]

Oak's research is better in Standard. copycat is not very big in standard. i like to run 2 elms, 2 oak's research, and 1 oak.
