I haven't been playing PKMN TCG in a while(months to be precise), but I recently started playing again. I took a closer look at someone's Misty's Tentacruel, at its pokemon power. In short terms it says: if Misty's Tntcrl is damaged by an attack, you may switch it with a benched pokemon and all other effects of that attack do nothing to Misty's T.

At first I thought it wouldn't take any damage neither, if the "power" was used, and it would damage the benched one. Is this true???
Please! I need to know!!! [Dropjaw]

Sorry but Misty's Tentacruel would take the damage. Then you could switch it with a Benched Pokémon and any effects of the attack (Posion, Paralyzation, etc) that would have been done to Misty's Tentacruel would be prevented.
