Heads up guys,I really should know the answer to this but if Pichu or Magby attacks a Pokemon with a poke-body does Pichu do damage with Zap,does Sputter turn off the poke-body and if Muk was out would it turn off the poke-body? In other words is a poke-body a sub-section of a pokemon power?

Yes, Poké-Bodies are considered Pokémon Powers.

pokemon powers may be subdivided into two categories: poké-Bodies, and Poké-Powers
anything that effects pokémon powers also effects the two sub divisions.
However just to be different, if you seperately shut off poke-bodies and shut off poke-powers, cards with 'PokémonPowers' like elekid still work! wierd eh?
LC Muk is the 'OneRing' that rules them all!

so if it shuts off poke-powers, it doesn't affect pokemon powers? that sounds weird. One of the confusing sides to pokemon.

Not really. Think about it like this: you can have a disease that affects all fruit, or one that affects just oranges, or just apples, or just apples and oranges but not peaches, etc.

Does that mean that poke-bodies are not active when the pokemon is confused, paralyzed or asleep or does it have to say that specifically. Thanks.

Pokebodies work regardless of the special condition state of the pokemon.

with reference to my first attempt at explaining
Okay, I find it is useful to use an anology to explain the relationship of Pokemon Powers, Poke-Powers, and Poke-Bodies. Think of Pokemon Powers as Fruit. Now, think of Poke-Powers as apples, and Poke-Bodies as oranges. Apples and oranges are also fruit, but a fruit can be something other than an apple or an orange. Similarly, Poke-Bodies and Poke-Powers are Pokemon Powers, but not all Poekmon Powers are one or the other-all older ones are neither. Somethings, like diseases, affect all fruit, just as many things affect all Pokemon Powers, like Magby's Sputter. Other things affect just one thing, like some diseases only affect apples, and other diseases only affect oranges. Similarly, some things only affect Poke-Powers, like AQ Houndoom's Dark Impact. Finaly, there sre some things that affect all Poke-Powers and Poke-Bodies, but do not affect the other Pokemon Powers: Skyridge's Raichu's Zap hits Poke-bodies and Poke-Powers, but not Pokemon Powers (like LC Alakazam's Damage Swap). At least, I didn't see a ruling on it, so I am going directly by the text.
Does that help any? [ August 05, 2003, 10:16 AM: Message edited by: Otaku ]

Right,(shakes head to clear the ringing) so am I right in saying that anything that turns off a pokemon power turns off poke-powers and poke-bodies but there are certain game mechanics that turn off only poke-powers or poke-bodies? Altogether now...tip-toe through the minefield...
