soooooooo i get to the venue with the normal crew: brittany, bianchi, alex, jorge, and myself. i decided to play magmortar/typhlosion/delcatty, aka magmortar.
round 1 - cory goff - gallade/absol
this game started out well since i started with corsola. he got up a quick gardevoir and a quick gardy. i responded with magmortar + scramble to do 40-20-20 SINCE I DIDN'T KNOW SCRAMBLE COUNTED AS AN EXTRA 60 DAMAGE FOR THE FIRST ATTACK. I WAS LED TO BELIEVE IT DID NOT. but anyways, i ended up putting enough damage on his stuff that i could ohko anything except his 130 hp gallade when time was called. but, i had delcatty ex on the bench with energy on it and 15 energy in the discard file, so i don't think there's any way he could've won.

more or less, i got set up way more than he did even though he took the first prize. amazing damage spreading on my part won it for me, since i STILL DIDN'T KNOW MAGMORTAR DID +60 WITH SCARMBLE ATTACHED.

when i saw who i was playing, i figured i had an autoloss. but he drew pretty dead and i got up a magmortar, so i benched him before he could set up. he got out one empoleon that i killed.

this is my good friend who hasn't been playing that long. unfortunately for him, i'm AMAZING AT POKEMON and refuse to lose to this deck. magmortar is just too much for that deck to handle.

round 5 - santiago (twitchy) - gastrodon
WHAT!?!? i have to play against GASTRODON!? with MAGMORTAR!?!? he gets a t2 water gastro doing 80, but i respond with typhlosion discarding his dre. he doesn't have another so he passes, and i pretty much just take 6 prizes from there.

round 6 - dave hubbs - blissey/weavile
UGH!! weavile is AMAZING against magmortar. i was worried about this one. his lack of any way to stop my powers and lack of ever getting a weavile up before i set up helped me win. it was still a close one though. i pretty much just did 40-20-20 a lot and used key scrambles (which i never knew counted for +60) to win. good game dave, and sorry :frown:
well i'm CLEARLY in top cut and CLEARLY at the first seed. i also CLEARLY have to play jorge round 1 since he was the only 4-2 who made it in. this was his FIRST TOP CUT! he's gotten a LOT better, so now FL has even MORE legit comation.
game 1 - he gets everything and i draw pass for literally 8 turns. i come back and get down to 1 prize anyway! but, he wins game 1.
game 2 - i basically just get up one magmortar and strategically do 40-20-20 after taking an unexpected ohko on a blissey. this one was quick.
game 3 - i start with my lone luvdisc and he starts with shuppet. he goes first and ascensions. i bench skitty and pass. he tvr's, discards a banette, and attaches. i guess he thinks i can't ko him with skitty the next turn so he should save the 80 to do to a delcatty. so he does 60 to himself and ko's luvdisc. i draw, celio's for magmar, place it on my bench, attach fire, evolve my active skitty to delcatty ex, retreat, and WIN THE GAME.

finals vs. STEVE SILVESTRO OH GOD I CAN'T WIN BEST 2 OUT OF 3 AGAINST EMPOLEON/ABSOL!!!!
game 1 - i get my normal setup and he gets up a quick piplup. i take the first prize with magmortar, but he has no KO response. i get 6 prizes pretty easily.
game 2 - i draw pass the whole game as he easily benches me.
game 3 - i get my normal setup, as does he. i started with skitty AGAIN (i also did in game 2) so i was worried. i drew into a corsola which helped. i just had to get up a magmortar and he realized he couldn't win the game. GG's steve.
