changes to POP player rewards

At least this opens up the possibility of players to exchange credits for non-pop packs later on. But it means that if you only go to 2 or less tournaments each quarter, you get no player rewards.

where does it imply that player 'credits' will ever be redeemed in anything other than the POP packs?
Rewards credits are still redeemed for the most current POP Series packs.
a player's participation in unique 'events', be it league or tourneys have always been called 'credits' towards POP packs, and POP packs *only*.

Why even create a "credit" system if they will never be used for anything more than POP packs?

why would you start a rumor that player rewards will be something other than POP packs? because you know that there will be people who interpret "blahblahblahexchange credits for non-pop packsblahblah" as gospel...=/

We enter players for each "month" of league.
I wonder if league attendance is counted per cycle or per session that the league is scheduled for.
For example, if a league is scheduled for once per week during the 6 week badge cycle, does that count as one event or six?

isn't league attendance counted as one 'credit' per season, no matter how many sessions one attends during that season? since my kids and i don't come near to maxing out our rewards amounts per quarter...we only report unique players during a league season, not how many sessions they attend when doing the end-of-season league report to POP.

This just proves, once and for all, that Pokemon USA is unable to count except in multiples of 5.

You get 5, 10 or 15.

never again will we see such "heinous" numbers as 4, 9 and 13 pop packs!

Talk about wanting to eliminate pennies! We are now just dealing with nickels!

Please just make sure it is not the same person who learned to count (unsuccessfully) to 60 with the Lucario Sleeves!!!

Good move PUI.

I like this. I can go to only 3 events and get 5 credits instead of 3. Or, 6 events and 10 credits. It's now much easier for me to earn credits!

:confused::confused::confused:
Why not list them as packs instead of credits ?

Seriously. I never said PUI would do something different, I just said it opened up possibility to do something different in the future. We've seen how successful the professor rewards program has been. Why wouldn't PUI want the same success for the player rewards program?

Right now nobody can control when and how they spend their reward points. So why would someone care if their friends start spreading a lie that you could spend them on other items? It's not like their friends could even hold out their points waiting to cash them in later.

We can't control what people say. If they are going to read too much into a simple post, they can read too much into any post. Should we stop all future speak all together because of the few people that are going to walk away with the wrong idea?

IMHO, this is a step in the right direction. Player Rewards have been crummy imho. I've always appreciated the free promos, but I've always longed for more than just promos. Now with this new point system, PUI has the ability to do more with the rewards program. Will they? Who knows. But it never hurts to speculate and it never hurts to come up with ideas and post them on this forum for all the players, TOs, PTOs, and PUI staff to read. Who knows? We might give PUI an idea they hadn't though of before.

Japan already has something like this where players can earn points (EXP) and trade them in for rare promos. Why can't america have the same thing?

It never hurts to dream.

the 'credit' system is NOT NEW.

AFAIK, player rewards have ALWAYS been explained as one earns a 'credit' for each activity...league or tourneys...participated in per quarter. the only thing that's changed is the 'levels' of rewards, so POP doesn't spend $1+ sending out one or two POP packs to players who only participate occasionally in OP.

My bad, if the credit system has always been around. I've never seen it before, so I thought it was new. I've always thought you got 1 pack for every event you attended. I never knew we were secretly getting credits and having them cashed in for pop packs.

I'm agreeing with Prime's original post, hopefully this credit system will be expanded so you can get other neat goodies besides POP packs, much like how the Professor credit system works. Of course, this hampers people (like me) who can't attend a league regularly, but I guess the system itself makes sense.

It looks like Australia are currently out of the POP Rewards loop. "Other countries may be added to this list as POP deems appropriate in the future. " - sounds promising....

To max out it seems that you have to attend a lot of events. What exactly is an "event" I live in Canada and without league we really lack "events" not that people don't try to put them on but our geography is quite large and it's tough to get big tourneys like in the US or Japan.
I hope the speculation is right and they add something other than Pop packs which recently haven't been that good.
I can't say wether this is good or bad but I see a definite possibility of very good

The new system looks simpler logistically for POP. That has to be a good thing.

I can't see the player reward credits being extended to be a cut down version of professor rewards. Too difficult to operate.

I can imagine the credits being applied directly to those with professor accounts, but the exchange rate would be low and I expect most profs would be better off just taking the player rewards as is. Putative maximum exchange rate: 5 prof points per credit? However don't we already get credit for 'professor' activities as part of the player reward programme?

=====================What is an event?==================

Play in a league season. Act as League leader for a season.
Play in a sanctioned tournament.
Organise a sanctioned tournament.
Judge in a sanctioned tournament.

Is that correct: there are five ways to gain a credit? Organising is listed on the description pages but does not get detailed on the MyStats page. So perhaps organising does not gain a credit?

I do not believe we as players get "credits" for judging. We aren't players then, if we are judging, right? And it wouldn't make sense for professors to get both player points and professor points. But don't make it sound like I miss getting player points. I prefer professor points ten fold to player points. I can actually choose to cash them in for something other than pop packs.

Prime, from the OP website

Who is eligible for Player Rewards?

The Player Rewards Program is designed to reward all POP members for their participation in our programs. This means that players, organizers, and league leaders are all eligible to earn rewards. Players will earn rewards for playing; organizers and league leaders will earn rewards for the great work they do to help promote the Pokémon TCG!
Not all League Leaders and organisers are professors. But like I said above I'm not sure if all five ways of participating get a credit.
