Are PTOs supposed to ignore suspended Players?

I really am curious. Are PTO’s supposed to ignore anyone of their players that has been suspended? Is there any PTO here that can answer this for me?

I ask this because of an issue I am having now. As many of you know I am on a 3 month suspension (for reasons that do not need to be discussed), and of course this means I cannot attend POP events or be on site of POP sponsored events. Well this posed a problem for me. I had borrowed cards from people at a tournament right before I received this suspension. Very expensive cards I might add. The issue being that the people I borrowed these from do not live close by. I know them because I see them at events. Well as I said I had borrowed cards from them, then over the next few days became suspended. Of course this stopped me from attending events and therefore returning the cards and no one lives close enough to me for me to give them the cards to return to the other people. I aslo had no way to contact them, because I did not know their phone number or E-mail adress. What made matters worse was that I had completely forgotten the name of one of the people who I had borrowed cards from and the last name of another, but knew what they looked like and could easily describe them.

Now this all happened about a week or 2 before winter break. Well I did not panic and I decided to E-mail my PTO to get the names and E-mail addresses of these people so I could contact them and arrange a way to mail them the cards. I got no response for several days. I tried calling. I even left messages. Still nothing. I sent other E-mails. I was not doing this to the point of “over doing it” I called maybe once a week, and only left messages every other week. I sent E-mails maybe once a week as well. I even made sure that I called when my PTO was online. I have still received no response and I still have these people’s cards and they have mine. What is annoying is that I have gotten ZERO response from my PTO even till this day. It’s like I am being ignored. I do not want my friends to think I am a theif. Some of my friends do not even know I am suspended. To them this looks like I took their cards and quit showing up to tournaments. With no way to contact them, what can I do. Luckily I was able to contact a friend of mine in North Texas yesterday who had a means to contact 2 of these people. Of course there is still the issue of the person who’s name I can’t remember and the person whos last name I cannot remember. Neither of them have gym accounts. So I knew only my PTO could help me get the names and E-mail addresses to contact these people with. However I get no responses I even sent a couple of PMs on the gym when my PTO was online. Nothing! I cannot believe anything other then that I am being ignored.

I am a bit frustrated, and annoyed that I am being ignored. All I want is help to return these cards and get my cards back. Is that a bad thing? I have been trying to get a response from my PTO since Dec. 9th and I get ZERO response. Not even an explanation. I still have some people's cards and I want to return them. Is there a rule that PTO’s must ignore suspended players? I would at least like to be acknowledged if there is one. Even if there is such a rule though, is it right to ignore a player trying to do the right thing?

There is no rule that says people should ignore you.
If they do, it's personal attitude who makes them do it.

Anyway in 3 months you are allowed to play again, so you might run into your friends and return their cards at States?
Explain what happened and what you tried to contact them, real friends will understand.

Eh, send the message to POP, noble sir.

I thought of that. I wonder though, if that would do any good.

That's....a little disturbing....and a little unnerving if that is how my PTO feels about me.

March 18th. Won't be till Regionals. And yes I could get them the cards then if i had to, and most likely they will understand. I doubt there will be any issue with them. I guess though it annoys me that I could have returned the cards in time for the tail end of cities, but am unable to now.

I don't know HOW your PTO feels about you.
I am saying if people ignore you it's a choice they made ( I call this attitude) and it's not mandated by anybody "outside".

I am not sure about the not responding to you at all part, but if you were suspended, and started asking me, as a PTO for names and addresses of my players, you would get a polite refusal.

I am not sure the reasons behind your suspension, but I am sure it would affect how your PTO deals with you.

Being suspended, usually, would not stop you from going to an event to make sure your cards were returned, even if you waited outside the venue (your terms of probation might make this an impossible option).

In any event, it is your responsibility to get these cards returned. Your PTO did not borrow them for you, and should not be expected to coordinate their return.

Hi,

Unless you did something insanely bad, I am pretty sure no PTO would report you if you were in an out as fast as you could to return cards and didnt stop for any pleasant convos. I could also suggest if any of your friends are going give the cards to them if you trust them enough to give them back. But all in all I think standing outside if you dont want to cause a problem and telling someone to send them outside might be the best option.

But in the SotG I would assume the PTO would still want to help the players in good standing get their cards back, so I don't see why they would ignore the request if it were properly explained in the email.

Another suggestion would be to offer to mail the cards to the PTO (so they know that is REALLY why you want the people's addresses), and ask the PTO to give them to the players if he/she sees them at tournaments.

I don't know about PTOs where you're from, but around my area our PTOs are willing to help with simple things like holding cards for a player, we're all friends.

PM me the names of the people you're looking for, I have a lot of addresses/contact info on file and could possibly help locate them for you.

As a clarification, I wouldn't advocate just giving out people's addresses to anyone who asks, but I am saying the person with the addresses of those you're looking for could help you get in touch with them.

^ what vince said. personal info we collect as LLs/TOs/PTOs in the process of running league or a tourney is just that, personal...and CANNOT be shared with any other individual, only with POP.

now if you were to ask your PTO to give those individuals *your* contact info, that could probably be arranged without violating anyone's privacy.

'hanging out' at an event venue is iffy, especially if your suspension is for something other than gameplay issues (i.e. an altercation with another player, theft, etc.). it would depend upon the venue too; i probably cannot 'ban' suspended players from a store without the cooperation of the store owner, but can certainly tell them that they are not welcome in the game room of that store where i am running my event.

Sounds more like a personal attitude towards you from that person(PTO) than anything to do with Pokemon. They could just reply and say I won't help you and leave it at that. Sounds like they have issues....

Well, I have no clue about attitudes of the PTO anymore than I have about the reasons for the alleged ban. If you're right and it is a personal issue, well, we shouldn't pursue it in a public forum, so I'm locking the topic.

A. its a tough case with the cards, but keep thinking creatively, and also, email POP. PM the people you do know here for help.
